Wondered if anyone could help me, I need an engine or cylinder head for a 2.5 diesel 1989 Fiat Ducato Eldis campervan. Having extreme troubling trying to find either. Wondered if anyone could point me in the right direction.
Many thanks
Andy

Assuming it to be the earlier version of the 2.8 Sofim engine series (,
I don't know about the 8144, but the 8140 series carried on to the early 2000s. Check Fiat Ducato on wikipedia for futher guide.
I would suggest Iveco Daily, or similar Peugeot,Citroen and Renault versions of around the same era, although many were exported.
In the past I have fitted a 2.5 head on a 2.8 Sofim Iveco Daily, though I can't remember if there were any issues but it definately ran OK when finished.
Two things, check head gasket sets to see if they suggest compatibility with the vehicles I suggested and also check on eBay or similar to see if the heads appear the same.
A small point, if you source a complete Iveco engine whilst it looks the same , it is RWD so the bottom half of the engine is different, not just the sump, the bearing carriers etc. make it unsuitable for a straight swap as they sit vertical not leaning back like the Ducato. As far as I know the others are all FWD.

There are a couple of facebook groups for vehicles of that generation such as :

I think the Talbot Express used the Ducato 2.5 and that there is an active owners club
My 1990 Talbot Express was a rebadged Peugeot J5, and was fitted with a 2.5 ltr indirect injection turbo engine
