As title states I have some questions about the 2.5td that came in a 1989 fiat ducato 280. It's a Tabert camper with the 280 base.

It was run dry of oil and.cooked no 2 rod bearing and got close to cooking a few others. Crank and con rod were toast. Had block cleaned, honed. Replaced crank, conrod and all bearings. Heads been checked , two vales that made might contact with no 2 piston were replaced.

While putting this night are back together I've run into a lot of conflicting Information. The block number isn't legible. In fact it looks like that was done on purpose.

Either way I got the correct crank by the number on it.

Seems the oil pickup is not available new anywhere. So I'm looking for a good used oil pump and pick up in the Netherlands.

Main question I have is about the head bolts.

Old ones don't look te be tty/strech but the guide to torque spec and sequence that came with the head gasket says replace bolts. I've read they are tty I've read they aren't. Seeing as I never ant to see this engine again once I'm done with it.

Can someone please tell me of these are tty bolts that will need replacing? The torque sequence it gives me is

20nm
40nm
90 degrees
90 degrees again

Does that seem or sound right?

Most of the machine shop work and parts have been fine/good but the crank seal that came in the master set was too big for I stance. So I'm a bit hesitant to believe the head gasket paperwork. On the other hand it specifies it's for an 89 and up.

Help appreciated on the head bolts. Will have more Q's I'm sure on putting it back together further.

cheers

If you can give me the engine Series number that hopefully starts with 8144. *** or 8140.*** I can probably give torque settings, I would be surprised if new bolts/stretch bolts were used at that age, I have rebuilt slightly later 96 onwards 2.5 and 2.8 versions that didn't use stretch bolts.
If valves hit the piston that con rod was replaced OK, but if not you may need to replace conrod on cylinder that valves hit piston as usually bends con rods.
Series number may be on Chassis/Vin plate under bonnet or door pillar etc. Assuming match the engine you have;(

Engine is a bit of an unknown but everything points to 8140. As its a full fiberglass camper no engine number under bonnet.

This is around that era. The cam belt book is only for the 8144. If you need the 8140. I can get it later, it's in my Scudo out in the rain:)
The torque details index is on the right. Let me know if you need a more close up pic.

Your a legend. So no new bolts needed then. Excellent.

Unfortunately the picture is a bit hazy. You could email them to me for higher resolution perhaps? Or some closer pics would be better alos for anyone else searching and finding their thread.

Thanks a million!

Excellent. Thanks legend! Clear as day ;) If you do have a break in the rain the 8140 information would be interesting. Just to compare. I doubt they differ.

This is a 2012 book so only goes back as far as 2002, but though JTD , basically same engine.

thanks a million. one last question: does it have a list of ALL the torque values for the whole engine? I've done all the bearings and the head.

Mounting the water pump which is also an engine mounts, mounting the oil pump, rear and front main seal covers, would be nice to know it's all to spec... please and thank you? :)

Sorry, what you saw was all it lists for each vehicle, it's a trade manual so they expect mechanics to do the rest from experience.
I don't mean "strip the threads and back half a turn";););)

Hahahaha, Oh that dreaded moment when you feel resistance and suddenly none. Thats the bit about tty i can never get used to.

Ive been doing the rest based on common sense and size/application. It will be ok. Thanks anyway though and especially for the info so far!

Cheers
