I have a Gold coloured Special Series 1978 model in New Zealand. I understand that this model came complete with matching fitted luggage in the trunk. If so mine has gone walkabout somewhere over the last 32 years. I was wondering if the striped material they used was still available anywhere to make a pair of bags. Thanks
Hi, I got a set made in leather to match my new interior, at least they match as I couldn't get any new cloth to match the old seats that were very bad.
That upholstery looks great digger. Unfortunately I need to keep things as original as possible, and I guess that old style stripey cloth is impossible to find anywhere nowadays.
Will do, I have the measurements somewhere and I will look them out. The leather is a great job as you can see the material of the original bag is in poor condition.
Early UK 1500's and in certain markets did come with the Fitted Luggage.
The 1300 Serie Speciale cars started the trend. I beleive the early 1500 cars in the UK at least were merely using up the stock of bags supplied for the earlier cars.
They do pop up on ebay now and again used but fetch good money now.
I'm pretty sure the material is not available anymore but you probably could get some made up if you have the funds.
My 1300 was a late UK car - A serie speciale (though the last UK 1300's were supposed to be Lidos') but came as new supplied with the luggage the same as diggers above rather than with the stripes? Interestingly the seat section at base of the spine is also missing the centre stripe? It appears basically that they ran out of the fabric once the spec was changed going to Lido trim then 1500 spec.....
That re-trim interior does look good Digger
