1967 Fiat-Abarth 1000 OT Spider

Can anyone tell me anything about it? My father just gave this to me as a restoration project, and I know next to nothing about it. All I know is what he told me, which is that he picked it up from the factory in Italy in 1967, and brought it back to the States in 1968 just before the ban on covered headlights. Since it was never officially imported here in the USA, I'm wondering if it's the only one in the country?

Where is the best place to get parts for it?

do you mean the fiat 1000 ots coupe abarth? the one with the 982cc engine and twin carbs, rear engined and rear wheel drive?

if that is the car you mean, its very rare and i dont really know anything about it. i have only ever seen pics of one.

The yellow one is owned by some guy over here in Perth. I've seen it at a few car shows. I'm not sure if it is original or a replica though, it's the only one I have ever seen. In fact it's the only 850 Spider I have seen, Fiat never sold them in Australia.

Can't help you with where to find parts in your neck of the woods, but you could try posting on the Turbo124 forum, they may be able to help. They deal mostly with older Fiats, plus there are a number of American posters there.

Lucky you!! It is a rare car, and worth a lot here in Europe.
I am not well into abart parts dealers in US, but scuderiatopolino.com could be a good place to start. For shure they can help you with any mechanical problem or parts, and they might be able to help you a little further.
Otherwise you can try Guy in Belgium. He has everything for Abarth (or he can find it).

If you run into a dead end, drop a line again. I might be able to find some addresses for you, but it will be in Europe, so i don't know if it's worth wile for you. I guess you are going to run into import taxes asa well as shipping fees.

Hi,I have been racing 850 based Abarhs for 14 years.I finished restoration of an OT 1300/124 series 2 last year (much much rarer than a spider) and my 1000 OTS is packed ready to leave Melbourne for Amsterdam.If you need any help or parts let me know,i have had at least 30 of them.

ps there are many 850 spiders in Australia,i can count at least 10.I built a PBS head 1050 cc Abarth motor for 1 of them,as well as a Berlina and Lombardi and Zagato double bubble for example.

I know this is an old thread and I hope your restoration is done. They were rare but there were a few around, I saw one at a dealer in Langhorne Pa., mentioned it to a friend who was a dealer in Willow Grove. For a FIAT dealer to become an Abarth dealer he needed to buy two cars! I took the first OT1000, this was my wife's idea because my Shelby GT350 gave her a headache and then Abarth pulled out of the US

It was a great little car and I never really found its limit on the track before my wife totaled it :bang:
