17s and a 1.2

Hey guys, i was just wondering, is it a bad idea to put 17'' Wolfrace Asiatech Katana alloys, on a 1.2. Am i going to lose acceleration and any sort of speed? Am i also going to experience a worse ride, as in extremely uncomfortable with potholes etc. Finally will i get full lock with 17's? without rubbing? Thanx

P.s. n e idea what wheels and what size Steve has on his bravo, in the gallery, under 'Steves Chariot'

Yeah you will loose acceleration and it'll take longer to hit your top speed.

This is what i discovered with my 115 HLX but now i own a JTD HLX which seems to cope ok hardly any noticable loss.

But with yours being a 1.2 i'm sure you'll notice. Best way is to try it out.

Trialing is gonan cost me a lot of money though....hmm i don't know I can't get them wheels in 16s thas the problem, and also i like the look of 5 spoke 17s on a bravo. I just would'nt be able to afford to insure anything larger than a 1.2.

I've just bought and fitted 17" (http://www.sds.dk/sider/alusider/meluxera.html) with 205-40R17 (http://www.silverstone.com.my/ty-auto/ftz.htm) on my 1.6 '96 for about ~500£ and I can say that there is some loss of acceleration - don't think that the ride got worse, but it actually steers a lot better, though there seems to be a little more "rolling" noise from the tyres.
I wouldn't put them on a 1.2 - get some 16" instead with 45/50.
