Hi
Has anyone experienced 131 twin cam 2 litre engine timing problem retarding
When revving engine the ignition is retarding, it has electronic ignition, I have had distributor overhauled by a specialist, however on timing light, it shows retarding? has anyone come across this, note engine has been overhauled?
Any help would be appreciated ?

Does it happen with vacuum advance pipe removed , if fitted?

Hi Summo, Are you sure you are thinking about this the right way? Going by memory here…at idle the ignition timing should be 10 – 12 deg btdc then as revs rise…say 3600rpm the advance mech: in the distributor should advance this timing a further 24 deg.

Now looking at the timing marks on the crankshaft pulley with the timing light it will appear that the marks are rotating anti-clockwise, but this will be advancing the timing to give the give the correct reading of 10 + 24 = 36 deg btdc.
