1 year Anniversary!

Yup!
As of today, i have officially had my driving license for 1 year!

Only thing is i've gotta renew my HGT's insurance early next month

But hey, my first car is a bravo - and a stonking good one at that! Can't complain too much then!

Yeah, it been a steep (and very rapid) learning curve!

It's been great having this car - maybe a 2-litre isn't the most suitable starter for most. Just got approach thing with the right mind-set and things turn out ok!
Had no near misses or owt, except the incident on the motorway (that'll teach me for driving in the slow lane) - so it's all been great!
Driving is soooo second nature to me now, but i never take it forgranted that i'm driving a bit of a beast - and that crashing is not something i ever wanna do!

Long live that gorgeous 5-cylinder chug!

How true ! I drive up to 1000 miles a week sometimes, and I'm noticing more and more that my bladder is getting weaker and weaker !! LOL

And I ALWAYS get caught short as soon as I get stuck on the M25 !

I'm seriously considering putting a large, wide necked bottle in the car from now on LOL

lol! How true that sounds.

I was a late bloomer too - passed at 22. Took nine lessons, then had a gap of 8months before cramming in a further 5 (or 6 including a mock test!) the week of my practical test! Passed first time though - 15 lessons isn't too shabby either!

Funny thing is, for my Pass-Plus scheme, i took the driver instructor lady out in MY HGT!!!!

She hadn't been in such a powerfull car before - that was HILARIOUS!

Passed at well under the required amount of lessons, but covered everything that was requied in one hit. She was very happy with my driving. But by the time i had taken that course, i'd already been driving for 3-5months (somewhere around that time!)

hes 22.... he hie premium is lower... sods law....

pass plus is un failable i swear... i drove like a noob and passed.... infact pass plus is gay aswell... it really is u think it give a yrs no claim but only for a yr..... so after a year and u think yay 1 yr no claim and my pass plus = 2 yrs.... DOES IT FECK u get 1 yr no claim a 5% discount.... Sscam i tell SCAM

I got insured with LOT'S of searching around!

At Pass Plus only took off 10% off insurance, as tesco's had already given me an introductory 20% off!

The scheme was supposed to knock off 30% (so i was told by tesco), so when it came to me handing over my certificate, they said "oh sorry, you don't get 30% off, due to you already having 20% off in the first place!"

My sodding luck.
Anyway, by then i had recently started working (after finishing uni), so i was able to afford the £1900 TPF&T.

Hmmm, thats quite alot for third party... oh well, at least i have an hgt!

i was going to do the pass plus but i am on my mums insurance and it isnt valid if i do that! i pay £650 for my 1.8full comp and i am only 18, been insured for a year two! 19 soon, premium drops (apparrently).

My mum and dad are very old and have full no claims so thats why i pay £650....I have a big problem soon though...

I have basically kitted the car up fully and insurance dont know, we will declaire it but they are probably gonna through me off my mums insurance because of it! i might wait till i am 19 to see before declairing otherwise the insurance companys are gonna rap my arse!!!

I am off to uni this summer, i can not wait till i come out the otherside with some money!!!only 5years away

In all honesty, i knew the hgt would be expensive in the first year, but early this year i finished paying the thing off and as of last month i've finished my first years insurance.

But you may ask was it worth it? And i'd have to answer...

HELL YEAH!!!!

NOTHING BUT NOTHING rivals the sound of that beautiful engine (not in my price range anyway)

Could've opted to go via my mothers insurance too, but i wouldn't have started getting my ncb's sorted out!

When i was 20 with 0 yrs no claims and 2yrs experience (i'd made a claim 1yr ago) i paid 1650 TPFT on my 1.6 Brava.

Now i'm 21 with 1 yrs no claims and 3yrs experience i pay 850 TPFT on my 155HGT (that ive hurt unfortunately).

I live in a 'nice' area though and have a driveway at back of house. Lucky me huh!

I origonnally had a 1.3 escort, insurance wanted 1500third party, i wanted no claims but not that bad!

£1500 for 1.3 escort tp V £650 for 1.8iBravo fc

Wasnt a hard choice....lol

The debt from uni is at really low interest though isnt it?

Don't beleive a word of it!!!!
Student loans are supposed to only rise with inflation, but when you have amassed so much money, it REALLY builds up quickly!

Got about 10k to pay back, but i know it's more with interest now. Been paying back since late last year - and it's not f*ckin nice!!!!

Good luck with uni anyway though!
