All this talk of engine transplants recently has got me thinking...

Uno 1.7 diesel:
58bhp
74 lb-ft
855kg
96mph
0-60: 15.9 seconds
AVERAGE: 54mpg

Tipo 1.7 diesel:
58bhp
74 lb-ft
1030kg
93mph
0-60: 17.8 seconds
AVERAGE: 52mpg

Tipo 1.9 turbo diesel:
92bhp
141 lb-ft
1110kg
109mph
0-60: 12.0 seconds
AVERAGE: 50mpg

Marea 1.9 JTD - 99 on:
110bhp
147 lb-ft
1215kg
115mph
0-60: 10.7 seconds
AVERAGE: 52mpg

Fiat Multipla 1.9 JTD 115 - 02 on
115bhp
150 lb-ft
1370kg
109mph
0-60: 11.8 seconds
AVERAGE: 44mpg

The later (99 on) JTD has 30BHP more than the 1.9TD (and DOUBLE the original Uno diesels BHP! ), but may be more complex to set up electronically...

Had anyone slotted a 1.9 TD lump in an Uno diesel before?

In theory it`d do about 112mph & hit 60 in under 10 seconds with a standard TD lump & 125-130mph & 60 in around 8 seconds with the standard JTD lump, yet still manage about 50 odd mpg!

Mess around with gearing & do a bit of mild tuning & you`d have a UT beater with massive fuel economy!

Just a thought!
