Does anybody know whether this head (from barchetta and punto hgt) will fit the 1.8 engine found in the bravo??

Surely this HAS to be the the single most power hiking mod other than turboing or NOSing for the 1.8 (which aren't really realistic options).

IF this can be done would anything else have to be done?

Anybody??

I have been wondering this as well, surely the only difference between the 2 engines is the head???

As we all know, VVT makes for va va voom

Come to think of it you probably need the ECU as well, which means its gonna be expensive. May as well buy a HGT.

Re: Re: 1.8 VVT head

Thats rather scary, i was coming back from work today just thinking about that, and here is it posted!!

Re: Re: Re: 1.8 VVT head

bump as i would really like to know more about this.

Re: Re: Re: Re: 1.8 VVT head

New head, ECU, wiring loom. I can't see there being many barchs/punto HGTs in scrap yards. You could pinch Niges one :)

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: 1.8 VVT head

They're essentailly the same engine.

VVi does not mean va va voom at all; it was initially designed for economy.

Would Henry lie to me?

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: 1.8 VVT head

1.8 VVT engine churns out 130 bhp while plain 1.8 does 113 bhp.

Doesn't this figures tell you something?

Plonker who play's for arsenal

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: 1.8 VVT head

Plonker, maybe.

Best striker in the Premiership (apart from Alan Smith), undoubtedly.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: 1.8 VVT head

not a plonker but yes the best striker inc alan smith and henry plays at the best team.

Alan...Who? Thierry Harry?? Nothing in comparison along side *King Darius of Vassell*, and the Juan and only Angel

Lol. B4 anyone has a go, think first... You may fall victim of Villa's mighty run of giant killings. lol

Back to the origonal question!

The normal 1.8 is vvt anyway!!so i think there is a cheap way around it to get an extra 17bhp-there must be..below is a link to a website which says the 1.8 is vvt anyway

http://www.fiatbravo.fsnet.co.uk/bravo/

3rd paragraph... i dont think the loom/ecu would be needed, because the vvt is already programmed to the origonal ecu, maybe just a reset! i am being very optimistic!!!!!!!!!!!

Paul, that one has been done to death already, that article is wrong.

You WOULD need a new loom and ECU, there is no connector on the current loom for the variator and the car would not run very well if the ECU thought the cam timing was different.

Its not a cheap upgrade.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: 1.8 VVT head

who says he is the best striker - grandad shearer has same number of premiership goals.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: 1.8 VVT head

Ok then tom, i will take your word for it as you are never normally wrong! Shame though, it would have given it a little more poke!

It would cost you £500 just to get it fitted :)

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: 1.8 VVT head

i aint going to tune my ebgine now anyway...costs so much and there really aint massive gains from tuning them, unless turbos are involved but the cost of that is stupidly high!!!

Next stop, coupe 20vturbo.
