Hey guys,

Had my 1.6sx bravo now for 9 months and am thinking that i want it to be faster.

I am on a company policy to am limited to a 1.6litre petrol engine so any people saying get a HGT this isnt an option.

I could get another car to play with but to be honest i like the looks and the drive of the bravo and would like to keep it for atleast another 9 months.

What hp is possible out of a 1.6 without NOS, turbo`s, superchargers etc, im just thinking for an aftermarket induction kit, fast road cams, maybe bigger injectors, ported head, supersprint manifold and complete exhaust. What else would need to be done or could be done. Im after atleast another 30bhp at the wheels.

Also has anybody got any links to anything with prices?

Cheers for the help if ya got any guys.

Dan.

been quoted 1k for forged internals and fitting. (this includes pistons, port polish, cams, EVERYTHING)

then u need a full exhaust (not manifold) power flow sports cat and back for 800

dastek remap 450 and rolling road. or a local company just starting out (here anyway) called emeralds will do it for 300 on a rolling road.

then i got a quote from a small garage down the road who do turbo or supercharger conversion custom down pipe turbo rolling road setup on top of a full exhaust with the custom chip he reckons 200 bhp. 2.5k :S

as u can see i didnt do any of this as im skint at moment.

Cheers Smee for the reply

Would you need forged internals if you were just going for the cams? I would have thought you would only need forged if you were going to put a turbo or supercharger on???

Surely the standard internals would be alright with just an induction kit, fast road cams, manifold and full exhaust system, maybe a remap and bigger injectors too.???

Cheers

Sorry i forgot to say i will not have to pay for fitting as i will be doing the work myself at the garage where i work part time.

Ignore everything Smee says ;)

First stage would be exhaust, induction, cams and a piggyback. Apparently the MPG suffers badly though.

You'd only need uprated internals if you were planning 150+ out of it, but then the clutch and gearbox would probably suffer first.

Anyone offering port polishing should be avoided like the plague.

Cheers Tom

I was a bit unsure about the forged internals too, cheers anyway Smee.

Not bothered about the MPG as company pays for my petrol.

Bearing in mind i can do all the laybour myself how much roughly would all that cost and have you got any links? Cos i cant find anything. Also am i right in thinking that i would see about a 30bhp increase or is that asking for too much.

Cheers

Dan.

OK

just found that came are around the 400quid mark, 300quid for manifold, 80quid for filter, how much is a piggyback roughly?

Cheers

Dan.

Thats the old fiat twin cam engine which I think was 8v. I'm 99% sure they are not suitable for the Bravo 1.6 engine.
