In a attempt to keep up with my pals coupe on the way to Donny Park on Sunday I recently bought myself a power boost valve. This will hopefully be fitted this week - thing is, the guys who are fitting it said this will make very little difference to performance unless other mods are made i.e. gas flowed head etc.

Is there truth in this or am I being told a load of porkies to relieve some extra wonga from my wallet?!!

Thanks

I know a performance company over in Lancaster (will find name and Number for you tonight when I go home), Who'll basically take your existing head port and skim it put a set of performance cams in as well as few other bits. Its £600 for all the parts and then about £200 for the labour but for your money you'll get 30+ BHP (again will check exact figures) . They've done this on loads of 1.6/1.8 so the performance gains are prooven.

AS I said I'll get the names and number tonight and I'll post tomorrow.

What was donny in the Park like? And are you gonna go to Autoitalia at Donnington this weekend. There will be plenty of Bravo's on show as well as the Fiat Coupe, Punto owners clubs. Clubcento, Ferraris basically any thing Italian.

Thanks Rob, I went to Clifford Cox in Reading to go on the rolling road & have the power boost valve fitted. They said if I want more power - Go buy an HGT!

That sounds about right get a second opinion form another company I bet you may find the other guys have already done it and reckon it will be worth it. Thats the unfortunate thing about the rolling road circuit. If its below 110 BHP you'll rarely get help from them. If you want Cams... get them. I'm gonna try and leave the engin aloan for a bit.
However I may go for a set of high lift cams when the warranty runs out on my 1.6 next December (2003) let me know how you get on if you go for it.
