Has anybody else changed from a 1.6 to a 115 (1.8) and thought that their 1.6 was a) more responsive and b)quicker? The 115 is far more refined and quieter but it does not seem as quick and doesn't pull as well going up hills in 2nd or 3rd....please say that I am mistaken, otherwise I am paying out more for fuel and insurance and driving a slower car!

1.6 vs 1.8 - score draw

According to the brochures, there's not a lot in it. A second to 60, 6 mph, 1.6 mpg in the urban cycle, 10 bhp and 8 lb ft of tourque (400 rpm higher).
The 1.8 also has higher 3rd, 4th and 5th gears, and a longer stroke engine, meaning it will seem a bit less reponsive. The 1.6 has cylinders wider than they are deep (the 1.8 is the other way around), meaning it will rev easily and freely.
You pays your money...

1.6

I am glad i went with the 1.6, i love the free revving nature of the engine and it is so nice and responsive. Only insurance group 6 too! The 1.8 is less than a second quicker to 60 and is group 8. I think the bravo is quite an under rated car in general, thats why i like it. :p
