Hi all...

Ive recently bought a 1.4 Uno turbo'd fiat seicento...

Its been up for sale a few times, and i was getting annoyed of seeing it for sale so thought id buy it instead :p

It needs a lot of work doing to it, and this is where i hope a few of you guys may help!

Im not shy of working on an engine as ive also got a 2.0 16v fiat seicento which i built from scratch on the driveway... i just dont know my way around the uno lump yet :p

Heres the problems i have so far.....

The engine doesnt like to start from cold.. it takes 6+ turns of the key to get it going... In between turns it will run but stall, and the idle seems really low.

When the engines warm the car turns off and starts how it should.

The engine also seems to run rich, although once warm the idle seems to suggest that the car doesnt come off choke.. Its as if the choke is around the wrong way round lol.

Also could anyone tell me where the cold start valve is located, as i think the problems could be down to the coolant temp sensor or the cold start valve.. Not 100% sure.

Also on the side of the engine i have a round plastic hole, and above that i have a vacuum hose with a socket stuck in it lol... Pretty sure that shouldnt be there....

Heres a pic..

The blanking socket is where the sup air valve feeds into the plenum chamber.

I answered more on your other thread.

Ah brilliant, in reply to

Can't remember the outcome of the thread.

Don't know whet MAF is. you mean the AFM (Air flow meter)? wasn't me as I've never seen this car in the flesh. I seem to recall the supplementary air valve wasn't changed and you seem to have a socket blocking where is should go (other post in Uno section).

I think excess tank pressure may stop the leakoff valve's return to tank working if over 3 bar (of higher if you have a powerboost valve). There is a vent on the UT's tank bit not sure what pressure it operates.

As for runing rich, it's probs been fooked about with alot. there is a mixture adjustment screw on the AFM, and an idol screw at the end of the throttle cable. there is also another screw to set the butterfly on the plenum chamber but that shouldn't be touched.

Get a supplementary air valve fitst off, before you touch any fuelling (y).

Oh dose the fule pump buzz before for 3 secs upon the first click of the key? the anti percolation fan is also missing, but that's a common mod on the Uno. Perhaps engine bay temps are hih enough to benefit from this fan in the sei bay.

I have a couple of spare sup. valves and pipe work and now my MK1 is running, I'm in a position to test them (y). (when I put the tank back again lol).

Havent tested the fuel pump, il strip the rear seat out so i can have a listen tomorrow.
If you have a working sup valve and pipework could you give me a shout and il sort some monies via paypal. (apparently a german car has the same valve on.. not sure if this is true or not).. Also looking online i am under the impression that the valve fits between the pipe i currently have the socket stuck in, and somewhere on the boost pipework... Is this normally junctioned in before the intercooler? Not even sure there is wiring present for the valve, il have a look tomorrow.. If not do you have any idea on an ECU pin number reference or how it is wired in... All i know from research is its a bi-metallic strip which heats up to open/close the valve, so i can only assume its ECU controlled :S

I am popping into fiat tomorrow to get a new coolant temp switch to see if that helps with it...

Yea MAF Mass air flow meter, or AFM airflow meter...

Where would the anti percolation fan usually be fitted? Is that supposed to be connected to the hole in the inlet/rail...
