Or, 'thrash it'!!
Cheers
PD
it's called a d p f diesel particulate filter
thrashing it around will make matters worse as it will put more soot into the filter not less
the car needs to be run on the motorway or dual carriageway once every few weeks at a constant steady speed for a prolonged period of time only then will the ecu back down the turbo and start injecting post combustion injections to light in the cat and heat up the filter to 6 or 700 degrees
under normal running the filter will never reach more than 250 or so degrees
things that will stop the ecu clearing out the trap are full throttle as it will stop post injections and give you full power witch will in fact do the opposite to what you would think and bring the temprature in the exhaust down again
had to do a doblo at work the other day
took it out and covered 20 miles at 70mph on dual carriage way made no sudden throttle movements and low and behold the examiner showed the temprature in the exhaust rising and also showed post injections
it reached 648 degrees a little lower than we were exspecting
but it did the job it brought an 84 percent blocked filter back down to 14 percent blocked
if you don't ever visit these speeds then a diesel car with particulate filter fitted like all modern diesels do now is not the car for you get a petrol
and as dave said there are software updates available but they will make no difference as i have said if you never get out the town
