Hi everyone,

I need some urgent help please.

My car is not cranking over.I have 2 starters and both work when testing outside of the car.
My Battery is still good as it starts my 156 with a much bigger engine.

When the starter is mounted in the car it just makes a click sound and at times no sound at all, just dead.Even when I short out the starter at the terminal there is nothing.

To me it seems like a wiring problem/earth on the car, but where do I start looking.

Any advise please help.

If you have a single car jump lead temporarily connect it from battery -ve terminal to a good metal area on the engine block and retest

Thanks for the advise guys.
I eventually got the car to start, I was abit confused, but its starting now.

I have 2 starters and like I said both work when I test it outside of the car/not mounted.
I cleaned the earth terminal under the slave cylinder on the gearbox.

I put the Bosch starter on and it was dead,no cranking when mounted.
I then mounted the starter that was on the car originally, when it started giving trouble and that starter worked.

So it must have been a bad connection somewhere, but that also points that the Bosch stater can't handle load when mounted.
Am is right here?
