just wondering if a 1.2 would go into my 1.4 as its looking dead.

just really fancy the extra 2BHP and 1 mph! not to mention the .8 of the 0-60 time!
cos iv had quotes and for approx an extra £150 i could get the newer 1.2, so id save money on fuel and possible insurace.

if its possible, how much more work would be involed for the 1.2 considerin it mite need the 1.4 engine anyway?

cheers guys

+2BHP, +1mph, -0.8 off 0-60, in the immortle words of Paul Daniels..... not a lot!!!

If you want a 1.2 then just buy a whole 1.2 car. You'd have to swap a huge amount from the 1.4 to make the 1.2 work, fuel tank, fuel pipes, wiring looms etc...

The big thing that stops the fuel sloshing on the floor :)

1.4 has a totally different fuel system to the rest.

aaah, THATS what a petrol tank is... cheers mucker, (sarky sod ;))

its quite low pressure, but i'd have thought the fuel pump and engine end connections were the only differences?

1.2 has no return pipe either. It might just be a case of a new fuel pump but you might as well swap the tank as you've got to get at the pipework as well.

Either way, the 1.4 is not a good starting point for an engine swap.

Well..... you say that.

But I reckon they're not a bad starting point for a Punto Turbo 1.4 engine conversion.

You'd still need to redo the fuel system. The 1.4 has a 1bar fuel pump, the rest have 3+bar fuel pumps.

And if you're going turbo you need to add the boost pressure ontop of that.

If you had a 1 bar fuel pump and half a bar of boost you'd only get a usable half bar of fuel pressure, barely enough for a weber carb.
