Hi All,

My 1.2 Bravo 200 Y reg with 120k on the clock keeps cutting out. Theres no warning it just cuts out, typically at roundabouts.

Fiat indy has already replaced the idle control valve twice and cleaned out the throttle body. He seems to think something electical £££. Anything I can try before I give up and drive the car into the sea?

Thanks Fella's

now its not even idling at all!!!

Just cuts out completely.

Is this a good sign, chance to isolate the fault properly.

Cars had loads of stuff done to it on the engine in the past year, head gasket, cambelt, plugs, leads.

Could another thottle body fix it?

When was the last service done and what ?
Sounds like fuel starvation, wrong plugs, or throttle body.

Hi Sven,

Since the car wasn't idling at all,it was a good time todo some testing.

I took off the ICV and left it hanging whilst I tried the car, still no idling.

I then noticed the metal prong of the throttle body that the ICV manipulates to control the idle and I started to work this back an forth by hand in an attempt to loosen it up abit. After ragging this awhile, I put the ICV back on and the engine did idle somewhat. After a few revs of the engine it did cut out again but on restart it was idling to some degree.

This leads me to believe its a throttle body issue. Does this sound true or am I kidding myself!!!

Thanks

Well you must have done something so it leads to the throttle body.one way to find out is do a replacement

That part controls the flap in the throttle body. Is its hard to move, half stuck, you need to clean the body so it can move free. The ICV motor aint got the pover to turn it if its stuck.
After you clean the body, be careful how you put the ICV motor back on - the slot on it must be inserted on the metal prong so it can turn the flap in either direction.

my local Fiat indy cleaned out the throttle body but it didn't help. they then replaced the ICV a few times.

I've ordered a throttlebody from scrappy, will see how it goes

hi there, iv got a bravo 1.2 and i sorta have that problem atm, but when am driving and put my clutch into stop my car stalls but i duno whats wrong with mine :(

any ideas???

cheers rob

Well, had the throttlebody and ICV (that it came with from the scrappy) fitted at my local indy and everything seemed well.

However, this morning the cars rev's weren't dropping slowly as they should when not in gear, they dropped really fast and the ICV just caught them at 500rpm and kept the engine going. It did this a few times and then all was working fine again.

The car started fine and ran ok for several minutes then did (or i just had the right conditions) for the above.

Is my ECU fubar? not worth paying out £300 quid for a cheap ECU to keep this car going.

Any thoughts anyone?

The indy did an ECU reset or as he described it "paired the throttlebody and ICV to the car after fitting it. Indeed it did seem to help for a few days. Just drove it home and it didn't want to idle as it should, not until it fully warmed up that is.

Looks like I'm going to give up on Fiat unless someone has some miracle answer
