Hi Replaced front shocks and springs on our 2014 1.2 due to some rattling noises. Was still rattling. Replaced top mounts (arrow facing to rear). Its still rattling. It looks like theres an either bigger gap at the top. I'm at a bit of a loss which way to go. Car is fine on smooth roads and steers well but any rough road it feels like to suspension is going to explode. Ive attached some pics of the top. Its exactly the same on both sides. 1st pic is car with wheel on ground, 2nd is with the car jacked up
Thanks
Guy

Is it possible the wrong springs have been fitted or car lowered?
It does look very loose around the mounting.
I assume correct standard/genuine parts fitted?
Are the shock absorbers in good condition also?

You did replace the drop links?
Lower control arms?
When did you replace the shocks just the tops look more rusty than in the last few weeks?
Which way is the tab on the top spring cup facing should be out to the side of the car.
The spring is correctly located in the Lower spring pan?

Your last picture looks just like the dampers (both sides) on the Younger Mrs S' (2013 / 1.2)

It might be equally knackered (car has several combat medals) but the suspension isn't noisy... just (the usual?) slightly primitive. I've had a couple of 500 hire cars in the past and they've been marginally smoother.. but you'd hope so, being brand new. So, I'd say that gap is normal.

I agree. As long as they're assembled correctly I don't see a problem with the photos. Much more likely to be wear in drop links or could be the rear bushes in the bottom arms?
