Have read a few probs relating to poor fuel economy on the 1.2 Bravo/a. Ive had the same prob myself for the past few months. The car was running a bit rough, felt like it was hiccuping in low revs in all gears plus fuel economy was down to 32 MPG (mixture of town/motorway miles). Couldnt link it anything including temp, driving style etc.
Anyway did a full service inc Fiat dealer plugs, leads, selenia oil and oil filter plus a new k & n panel filter. The result was the car was running great but fuel economy was still pants. Couldnt understand it.
So was farting about under the car at the weekend and disconnected a few plugs and sensors and gave em a clean inc the crankshaft sensor by the flywheel. Plus i disconnected the battery overnight.
RESULTS as follows.
I followed the "resetting the ECU" guide and when i connected my battery up i started the car and left it ticking over for 5 min, then took it for a gentle spin. Car was running fine but was about out of petrol so i put £20 in drove it back home. Today had to drive up to cumbria and back so I took the Bravo and i tried to keep it steady ie. under 4000rpm all the way.
Basically i got 215 miles to £20 and i was well chuffed, it works out EXACTLY 41.5 MPG which is a vast improvement on what its been running at. Im hoping this figure will increase as the "resetting the ecu guide" says fuel economy is usually a bit WORSE after resetting the ECU.
Anyway im well chuffed, if you are having similar probs just try what i did u never know it just might work for you!
