Hiya, I'm a newbie here so I'm hoping some of you guys will be able to help:p

I paid £410 for a full 36,000 miles service (even though its only done 20,000miles) on the 8th june this year for our campervan. (fiat ducato, trigano tribute)

Today we booked it in for its first mot (its a 2004 reg) and it has failed.

They said it needs new brake cylinders on both sides on the back for the footbrake. One has burst and the other has seized up.

Since the service we've done no more than 300miles.

shouldn't this problem have shown up on the service as we paid for the brakes to be stripped?

Also they're saying it'll cost £50 for the mot test then about £300 for parts plus labour then vat. Its gonna cost us about £500 in total...... thats almost a grand spent with them in the space of two months on a vehicle thats done 20,000miles and is 3years old.

does this make sense?

it was service by fiat autoworld in chesterfield and they are doing the mot too - should this problem have shown up on the service.???

also the vehicle isn't covered by warranty anymore.

Being a campervan im imagining it gets little use during the winter months so could imagine a seizure occuring due to the lack of use

Get some qoutes from local independent garages or even campervan specialists now that vehicle isnt under warranty anymore, should save on a few quid

Hope this helps

chesterfield eh?

i could recomend loads of none fiat related garages that could have done service and MOT for you depending on what area you live in.

Candice, my Sei has had loads of problems recently and i swore i would never go near an actual dealer with her!

hiya,

its only a small campervan (size of a transit van) nd we use it as an everyday vehicle rather than just at certain times of year.

I have just had an oil change and filter done at T.J.Vickers Shropshires only Fiat Dealer by the way they don,t service motorhomes cost me £104.

If any one can tell me of a local company that will service motorhomes in Shropshire and can turn the pessky spanner sign off ( another Fiat Dealer won,t £20 to turn it off because it wasn't ready for service only done 2500 miles since last service. Fiats tell whats good about them.

Get the van / motorhome MOT tested at another garage, see what they say. Its going to cost extra but it might save you money long term.
I wouldn't bother going back to the garage that serviced it, they sound like they're taking the p*ss.
Ask trading standards what they think, they're usually knowledgable.
