Anyone know how to check the crank (TDC) sensor on a Tempra. I keep being told to check it with a multimeter, but not how or what to check.

There are three pins on the plug on the end of the sensor lead. I'm sure that someone must know, judging by the amount of no start (no spark) problems I've seen on these forums.

Thanks

Brian

For reference, timing belt end of engine. If you look under the vehicle at this end you should see a toothed wheel. The TDC (crank sensor) is mounted so that it sees (detects) the individual teeth as the wheel rotates.

If you can't find it let me know and I'll post an image.

It's fixed with an Allen screw into the block, remove that and with a little bit of persuasion, the sensor can be withdrawn (clean the face of it if you do).

regards

Brian

now then.. on some models you will have a sensor located at the flywheel end (white or black lead) these are trouble also, unplug it and put an ohm meter across the pins (to sensor) if all you get is an 'open curcuit' reading then its duff.
