Hi all

Was just wondering what fuel, in your opinions, are best to run my car on! Some people say that Shell V-Power is the best, others BP Ultimate! Some even say that the Total Excellium is best!

And I am wondering whether there is a difference on fuels. Like does one garage do better petrol and another better diesel.

But most importantly - what is the best diesel?!

Ta! :p

Well at the end of the day all fuels comes from more or less a few refineries, & diesel being more or less the same spec.

That said it depends what you are looking for from a fuel...Are you looking at it from a power angle, or are you looking at it from whats good for your engine angle.....

Ive heard that a diesel additive has a bit more to it than a petrol one, being the case it lubes up the pump & all the other stuff on a diesel, but to be honest here it seems to turn out to be snake oil once again.

Bottom line is no real proof......

Thanks for that jimboy.

I was looking at it from a number of angles really. What seems to be the best fuel for so far as keeping the engine in good, clean order. Although fuel may only come from a small number of refineries, each company will put different additives in their fuel. Which is why my local Shell garage's normal fuel is cheaper than the supermarket but their premium fuel is more expensive than the supermarket premium fuel. And I know about the octane levels being different, before anyone mentions that is also what you are paying for ;) The supermarket fuel will just lack some of the additives found in 'brand names'. I think anyway lol.

The other angle is performance. But not just the (mentioned in a Jeremy Clarkson-esque manner) powerrrrr but also the fuel economy.

I was just curious as to whether anybody noticed any real life difference between the cheaper fuels and the premium ones, and also between the different brands.

Hope that helps explain where I am coming from! And don't hate me :( Even though I am gonna ask the same question about engine oils at some point   That is of course assuming I don't find a thread about it already (y)

I have a bit of advice for you Garree, & it will speak for its self.
Go on the net & type in things like "myths&truths" about engine oil, "snake oil" is another word.[two words]...

All this will make for interesting reading. Its worth taking the time to do this, you will be surprised at the hype & lengths that some companies go to.....

Happy reading.............:D
