Can I install new battery(higher capacity)to my stilo myself,
or will electronics go nuts when I take battery off?
Sorry my bad english :)

I believe you should not risk it as FIAT Dealers has the proper tools to diagnose an early damage that you may cause[8]

Dec2002 - 5D 80 Fiat Stilo Dynamic Metal. Loden Green ASR/MSR/Brake Assist - Dual Zone Climate - Comfort Pack

New battery is now installed, original battery was so small,(magneti marelli)
only 50Ah and 250 cold cranking amps.
New battery is 65Ah and 680 cold cranking amps !!
piece of cake :)

Just a thought.
Does your alternator have enough output for your new battery.

New battery uses very good calcium technology,
it enables very fast charging !

Hi

Going to speak to my FIAT dealer tomorrow and get them to change / upgrade the battery. I'm going to ask for the battery out of the Stilo JTD to be put in mine (1.6), as that'll have a higher capacity and Cold Crank.

My dealer says that if you don't have any problems with original battery(Magneti Marelli) we won't change it. So I just went and bought new battery,it
cost only 80 euros :)

Hi

*Hopefully* i'll be getting the JTD's battery placed in my 1.6 Dynamic soon. I've been suffering from poor cold starting and errors when the car's cold. Again, *hopefully* this'll sort it.

I'm going to have to pay the extra £15 to upgrade the battery, as the warranty only covers the basic battery.

It seems strange, but a lot of my computer faults, and those I've read on this forum, seem to be related to low-power. I wonder how much money FIAT could have saved by putting better batteries in the Stilo range - I bet dealer's have replaced Body Computers without thinking that it could be low power causing these faults.

You can go to the local special battery store and choose
battery which has high capacity and cold cranking amps.(calcium technology !!) Replacing old
battery is easy, that's what I did :) I really don't trust FIAT batteries(Magneti) anymore !

There is good battery for you, Varta's calcium technology:

12v 62Ah 600 Cold cranking current :D

Hi tpak

I work at Halfords (UK Car Accessory Shop) and could have got a heavily discounted battery there, and also could have chosen my own spec. But i thought - why should I pay for this?? If the Magnetti Marelli battery fails again, I will get a Halfords Battery (we use Yuasa and you can get Calcium Tecnology with a 4yr warranty).

Also, in case anyone was interested, Halfords' listings for all 4 battery types (Standard, Heavy Duty then calcium upgrades for both) were way over the spec. Fiat supply for the 1.6.

Well anyways, I wonder why FIAT is so stupid and use
those pathetic marelli batteries ? They must be so cheap.
Rroope I hope your Stilo is running smoothly soon ! [8D]
