Hi
Wondered if anyone could offer me any advice?
I have a 55 1.6 stilo multiwagon and every now and then perhaps once a week the engine warning light comes on, the light generally goes off when ignition restarted after a short time, there is no change in how it drives, its recently been serviced and fluid/oil levels seem fine.

What could this be? Could it just be a gremlin?

Any advice appreciated

Hi. Welcome to the FF.

For an intermittent fault like this, you would need to get the fault codes read from the car.

Your garage that serviced the car should be able to do this or you could buy your own fault code reader for about £30.

Thank you Davren, will do

Could a low battery do this? I'm still using original battery ( dec 05 ) seems fine but was wondering due to age if i should get a new battery:confused:

A low battery wouldn't cause the engine fault light to come on while you're driving. The alternator takes over supplying all the electricity the car needs once the engine has started.

Having said that, if the battery is 5 years old it may need replacing anyway.
