Right guys,

Thanks to the search engine, I managed to find what caused my engine fault light to appear and a "hoover" sound.

The upper pipe from the intercooler has a cut (open wound) and the lower one is showing signs of wear (due to rubbing against plastics cover).

Now guys, where can I purchase sports versions of these pipes at less than £80???

Cheers.

Hi Lalli,
I don't think many, if any members have ventured into upgrading of the intercooler pipes although a few of us have had them split like you.
Fiat are the only place I know you can get the exact shaped pipes and the bottom one from turbo to intercooler with the metal section in the centre is about £40 on its own, the top pipe i'm not sure about.

There are companies on the internet that do silicone kits, etc but i've not found one that makes kits for specific cars/models they tend to be standard lengths and bends so you can make them up yourself. The problem i've always thought of is will they be any good for the price. TBH unless you're upgrading the intercooler and/or turbo, is there any real point to upgrading the pipes?
What sort if mileage have you covered?

a guy in work had the same thing happen on his alfa 147,changed his top pipe due to a split then within a few months the old bottom pipe gave up.
at the time im sure i found a pair of alloy or stainless pipes(cant remember) on the internet somewhere(will try to find).
if you can get hold of a bit of pipe the right size as a temp repair cut the pipe right round where its split and insert the pipe and jubilee clip both sides.
lad in work ran his for a week split(i recommended against it)with duck tape over split till he got his new pipe.

I have covered the pipe with adhesive aluminium (for pipe - plumbing) and has prevented the light switching on my dashboard but still there is a leak and lots of smoke.

The lower pipe is a flawed design. I have been quoted £90 (60+30).

The tuning section has nothing with regards to intercooler pipes.
