One for Decks probably. Open driver's door, interior light goes on (nothing unusual there then). Open passenger door - no interior light. Can't even see a door-operated switch, so no idea where to start. Any ideas..?
The fact that it works fine via the driver's door is promising. Most likely there is simply poor connection at the door A frame to door connector. Just pull back the twisty cover and undo the connector 1b here and see if you can clean it up with contact cleaner etc
The door switch N51 is actually in the door catch internals but I would guess that isn't your problem
Thanx chaps. The plot thickens. Open passenger door when engine is running - interior light goes on. Open door when ignition is off - light does not go on! Over to you Decks!!
How's your battery? Stilo is smart enough that if your battery voltage is low then the body computer won't allow the interior light on so as to conserve power. With engine running the voltage should be good so it says ok and allows it on
Did you try cleaning up the door frame to door connector?

Battery is very good thanks. And in any case, the computer can't be that clever if it won't allow the interior light to come on when one door opens, but not the other! No, haven't cleaned the connector yet (too cold!) but I find it hard to see how that can be the reason as it works fine when the ignition is on...
The courtesy light is controlled through the door node on each side so you need to get to the A frame to door connector contacts and clean them up first. All sorts of weird things will happen if there is poor electrical contact there as electricity will always find the easiest way out.
The courtesy light is actually controlled by the Body Computer, which receives door open signals directly from the lock (this is the case as the rear doors have no door node).
As Decks says, clean the connectors first. If this proves no joy, remove the battery terminal for 20 mins then reconnect - might just be the Body Computer needing a rethink.
I know what you mean Rich but the front doors have to find earth through the door nodes so a bad contact at the node will cause problems, they don't go directly to earth like the rear doors do (Yellow Peril's is a 3 door)
N55 rear door (if you have one)
N50 front door
