But will the nasty white barryboy punto driving round Carlisle please sort his car out it's starting to annoy me now. Looks awful and it's slower than slow, must be all the white spage age junk weighing it down. If you're reading this, perhaps you've bought one of those exhaust turbo-noise-imitators? You give a bad name to Fiat drivers. [V].

On the positive side I have also seen a shiny black Bravo ELX going about with a very nice lookin' chappie in it so if you're reading this please feel free to get in touch ;)

lol ,at my college the other day there was a punto with those round rear lights(which i think look eugh),but the best was the twin exausts coming out either side of the rear bumper.i gauge about 6-8 inches out and about the same across.i'll take the digi cam with me this week and try to get a pic

Could have been me if i drove an ELX [)]:p

Saw an awful punto today with the aforementioned "afterburner" lights (I believe they are called?), tinted windows, ironing board (sorry, mean spoiler, never has the word been so descriptive!, 17" odd alloys etc and guess what, yup, fogs and sidelights on at 6pm with nice sunshine.....

I am a schizophrenic currently so please bear with me whilst I try to get rid of the 40+ personality.

well ironing boards (I mean spoilers ) cost £200+ so tell me why they are so UNCOOL , because anyone who mods their car up will want want and most car places sell them they are an asset your car wont want to be without and your about the only person on this planet who doesnt want one or own one !

Even the normal every day car driver will put a spoiler on his car to make it look a little bit better wether its a good one or not I think its an essential piece of kit .

All rally cars have them all modded cars have them, all teh new cars being made now have them as standard because they are part and parcel of any car looking nice and not looking nice.

Each to his own though :)

Notice he described the spoiler as 'an ironing board' I take it from the this it was the inverse of a small, discrete spoiler which compliments the car.

Speaking of which, can anyone offer an example of when they have seen one of those mechano set ones actually look good?

I keep seeing them on rover 600's and laguna's and oh yeah, a toyota carina e[xx(]

MMMMMMmmmmm I'm also thinking that 'ironing board' meant a big, flat nasty spoiler instead of a nice curvaceous smooth one. I would also like to be picky and point out that a spoiler is not essential ie. you don't need one in order for the car to run :D

I had one on my Cinq...

Its waiting to on the other one now...

I just like the satisfaction of people asking me if that'll make it fly! I dont think it looks much if any better, but I only really planned on it as a bit of a joke, but its gone really far!

I'm sorry but I doubt my piddly little spoiler is giving my car any more grip or speed than the ones without one (OK it makes it look better :)).

My mothers ironing board cost £30 and I expect it would have looked just as good as this one IIRC. As they have defended me (cheers guys) I am not talking about a nice little lip spoiler or even a nice curvy spoiler which matches the car but a big F1 racing car style spoiler on what is a 1.2 litre car (most probably) really not requiring that sort of downforce just adding to the drag of the car. I know we don't get on stevirobbi but that doesn't mean you have to search out threads and ruin them just for your own satisifaction; I keep away from you as a rule so if you would like to do the same it will make us both happy I am sure.

The difference between a normal car, a standard modified car and a rally car is profound and I won't even waste my time going into that!

James; saw a Vectra the other dead, standard but alloys and a huge mechano spoiler on the rear instead of the normal stylish "lip" style you see on some Vectras. When we got closer I saw it had a rug covering the black window, my little sister was laughing too and said "i bet he has that because he can't afford tinting" to which I replied "more likely because he is so pissed off at himself for sticking that piece of crap on his car he refuses to look at it each time he checks his rear view!"

I just don't think they look good fullstop, would love to see a car on which it complimented it...

I don't understand how the idea of "they cost £200 so how can they be uncool" works, burberry is also expensive but considered uncool, a KIA car is a lot of money but uncool - costing a lot of money doesn't mean it is cool, it just prays on peoples desires, mislead or not.

Aren't the shark fins for satnav? I think they look ok on beemers they're meant to be on, but what is said is that chavs in corsa are starting to get them too:D

Stilo TURBO!!!!(diesel)

Chavs in corsas have the greatest sens of style of all human beings on the planet! If only you and I could aspire to the following coolness:

"arr mate, dis massive blue spoiler wot i nicked off a subaru orta look fookin mint on me white nova, yeah fookin wikkid mate innit"

"yeh mate i gorra burberry cap n a four ounce gold chain off the market, bling bling"

"hur hur me bird's fourteen and looks like kat outta eastenders innit, i'm ard as fook me"

Those shark fins look quite sick (sorry, good) I think.

And to an earlier post... I have my sidelights on all the time, and I have a reason for that :)

I reckon any car with a shark fin looks quality as long as it compliments the style of the car and its not one of those fake fins that most modders stick on!!! Couple of 'em round this way, with flashing blue LED's on as well! *lol*
