Just been thinking cudnt we have like a little award sorta thing, like 'most posts in a week' summat like that, what about FF car of the week? Resurrect FF hottie :p

Have a poll which the mods nominate posts or people which they feel have posted well, a lot etc and then the mods decide who they believe is the best!

What does everyone think????

TBH I think this awards idea is a very bad idea.

There is already a fair bit of corruption on the forum (certain friendships reap certain rewards if you see what I mean), and this will just increase it. You'll find mods awarding their friends with awards, which aren't justified and this will just start arguments. Also it will encourage people to go into every section of the forum putting posts in topics where they don't know what they are talking about. We already have several people on the forum (who shall remain nameless), who go into the 'Punto' section for example and post in there when they don't own a Punto and never have, giving rubbish information.

We already have the trophy for donating and i think that is the only award we need, awarding people who love the forum and want to keep it running.

Please don't implement this award idea as it will just create rivalry and alienate people who have knowledge but are not being rewarded due to unfair voting.

Hope this makes sense to people,

Dave

you make it sound like there is a ff conspiracy

if a post has been reported for rep, or mods think its worthy of rep then its given

since become a mod, i have seen very little posts not being rewarded

Dave's post is true to a point. Certain sections of the forum are well moderated and others are ignored. It's not intentional, it's just true. There are a few people in some of the smaller and perhaps more specialised sections who have posted some very useful information and could contribute greatly to the forum but aren't thanked or given any reputation because there isn't a moderator or none of the moderators visit them. How many for example go in the X1/9 or Palio section? However I do sometimes look over the Punto section and post if I think I can help as a lot of issues occur across the marque and are familiar to Bravo/a and Cinq/ Sei owners as well. I will continue to do this and help where possible.

Don't worry Helz I wasn't talking about you (y) Just certain people who provide duff useless information (mainly post count spammers).

I haven't seen any corruption on this forum Dave. Aren't you taking this a bit too seriously?

A couple of awards would be fun IMO, especially if you have awards like 'daftest quote of the month', 'most useless post' etc.

i do read many posts, but most the info that i have seen, i have no problems with

if there are problems it gets dealt with

if you find a problem report the post and explain why

im no expert, so information that has been posted and is duff, will be duff until told otherwise

sometime we do miss things and thats why we have the report feature, so if anyone spots some major spamming then the sooner its reported the sooner it can be dealt with

as for the rep thing, i have boosted the rep thread a few times to remind people to nominate for rep :)

Im glad that my awards idea is being liked by most people, obviously if there is more interest we would ave to have a chat like to see how to get the idea off that ground.

Thought about it a bit, perhaps we could have a sub area which would be FF awards???

It's a bit of both really, mods need to keep an eye out but they are not omni-present. I used to regulary report posts that where spam but I don't do it anymore as I have requested several times that certain person should be given bad rep due to the severity of the bad advice and the regularity they give it, but no bad rep was awarded.

Chaos, if you haven't seen any corruption then you need to open your eyes mate. People have had their posts 'modified' by mods all the time, only the other day one of the moderators tampered with a poll and put on 800 votes. I am not trying to claim that the corruption is serious just that I think awards are a very bad idea and will definately not help the forum to hold onto current members and attract new ones. We need to encourage people to contribute to the forum rather than making them feel left out because they feel they can't get an award because they don't know enough. Granted it won't turn off all your 'hardcore' forum'ers but you have to think of the new guys as well.

personally mate i think u need to chill out a bit, this a public forum and sometimes things need to be modified.... i think corruption is a very very strong word.

at the end of the day, mods are only human and act in the way they see to be the most benificial to the greasest number of people at the time, sure not ever decision is right, and sure not every person can be pleased with the outcome. but i only act on a post if it is mentioned by another member, not if i think it needs to be changed / reported / wateva...

if u are unhappy about the way certain mods are running things, have a word with ben and c wat he says, dont run around saying there is corruption in the forum... is that exactly wat a newbie wants to read?

i know it is only your opinion, as this is only mine.... dont think i am trying to have a go, just tryin to explain my view on events! :D

wow steady on there....

If you was around when we did the FF hottie comp, it was all in good fun, it didnt cause any bad feeling between members and was actually good for the forum.

I loved it when we doing that thread it was really funny!

darkciruit if you look back and read that thread i am sure you wont find anything un towards in there.

BTW i am not singling you out but your the only one who seems to have a major problem with this, people wont be forced to take part anyway.

I am all for this guys :)

DC if you want to discuss this further then please feel free to PM or wait till i get on MSN tonight

As I said Gaz, it will be a bit of fun to you, but others won't see it that way. Whats the point of having awards if it won't create a bit of competition? Once you have competion arguments start (especially on something as informal as a forum), once arguments start someone always has to lose. The person that loses will feel alienated from the forum (I know I would), and they will leave. People outside of the forum will see this and they will feel they don't know enough and will feel alienated to join. What you'll end up with is an elite forum which you can only feel comfortable in if you know the ins and outs of Fiats.

Maybe I am taking this too seriously but I think the people suggesting this idea need to sit down and have a long think about the reprocussions of implementing this idea. It is definately not something to be rushed into and I personally think if it is to be implemented then it should be a sticky in the LL where it can be listed who has been awarded what awards. It shouldn't become a major part of the forum (i.e. there shouldn't be any signs that someone has been awarded [unless you look in the thread of course]).
