Evening all,

Spent a few hours cleaning the car today (08 Petrol Sedici) and noticed that whilst the rear tweeters are working, my rear woofers are not.

Any suggestions as to why this may be the case? Could they be blown? Is there any way that I can check them?

Cheers
John

Hi all,

Just a follow up to this original post. I decided to take the rear door panels off my Sedici to have a look at the speaker, and was quite surprised as to what I found.

Whilst the speakers appeared to be fine, the connectors were caked in rust. Even with a good grinding using a dremmel, the electrical connection on the speaker is intermittent at best.

So, it looks like I'll need to get a new set of speakers. Has anyone got any recommendations?

Cheers

Not answers for u I'm afraid, but we recently got a sedici for my wife and the rears are not currently working, must check then for corrosion myself. How was talking of the door panel? Would it be possible to clip of the connectors and replace just them?

Hiya,

Taking the panels off was fine with the right tools! There are two Philips screws holding the panel on (one in the door handle and one behind the door level) hiding behind little black flaps. There is also a spring clip holding the window winder on as well which is a pain in the bum to get off! I used a big spudger to make some room between the winder and the door panel, then used a small screwdriver to knock the clip off. Just be careful, it isn't called a "spring" clip for nothing!!!

I'm pretty sure that the clips could just be cut off, but I think the connectors are proprietary. I did contemplate clipping them off and just soldering directly to the speakers, but WD40 and a dremmel I was able to save the day!

Shout if you need any advice.
JT
