Hi Folks,
not been on ere for awhile, still battling the monster:devil: scudo that refuses to run.
Can anyone tell me where on earth is the crank sensor is located on a 2004 plate 1997cc 16v JTD, Also i have a KKL vag-com lead (recommended to work with Fiats i believe) also FiatECUscan free software but can't get it to marry up with scudo..Any ideas.....AngryCabbie

Crank sensor is on top of the box next to with 2 wires running to it. dont know about the vag doing the diagnostics we get into the ecu using peugeot expert or citroen dispatch software. Is it just refusing to start or what

I have vag-com (or VCDS as it is now) for my car (a SEAT) but I have never heard of the lead being compatable with anything other than VAG group cars and vcds software. The pin assignments in the OBD socket follow a standard but isn't the lead somehow a dongle for the software?
Anyway for getting into my scudo (2004 2.0 JTD) I use peugoet planet and select from the vehicle menu 'Expert'. That works because I have done it.
Crank sensor ! Sorry I haven't a clue. Never been able to find any useful engine diagrams or information anywhere.

Hi all,

It starts just fine but when you try to rev it say more than around 2000rpm+ it won't rev any higher, also if you put it in gear it will pull off and run as long as you don't try revving it or increasing throttle past a certain point.
As for the lead i got KKL vag-com its modified with electronic switch to auto detect fiat pin-out, will try peugeot planet software (if i can get hold of a copy)....Angrycabby

sounds like your just throwing your money away by guessing wats wrong. take it to any cit/pug/fiat dealer get it plugged in and ask them to take the van out and check the live data and it should show them wats causing it. have you been trying any alternative fuel in it ?.

Disconnect the airflow meter (MAF), start it up and try revving it again (it might idle rough but for the purpose of the test its nothing to worry about). If you can rev it past 2000rpm, then your MAF is buggered.

If it's the MAF, don't get a cheap copy replacement as they'll only last a few months.
