QUBO Intake Air Sensor

Hi All,
I'm Nigel and new to the forum so please excuse me if this topic has already been covered. I have a 2012 1.3 (70kW) Multijet Qubo flagging up OBD2 fault P0096 (IAT sensor). Please can someone tell me where this is located and if it's likely to be faulty or just a dodgy connection.
Many thanks.

It is the highlighted item in these pics. Could easily be a poor connection worth cleaning up. Click image for larger version

Re: QUBO Intake Air Sensor

Thanks - that looks like a very useful book of illustrations. However, I'm a little confused as I know the blue highlighted item as the Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor which I had a spot of bother with (OBD2 fault code P0101) and replaced some time ago. Are the two sensors in a combined unit? Cheers Nige

Re: QUBO Intake Air Sensor

I think there's a bit of confusion here. The current fault I have P0096 is with the Intake Air Temperature (IAT) sensor NOT the Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor. Cheers N.

Re: QUBO Intake Air Sensor

As far as I can determine the Air flow meter is combined with a temperature meter to then provide the mass estimate. I can't find more references to air intake temperature. I don't have personal experience as to how it might develop fault codes, however, it is not impossible for the connections to the unit to be suspect, especially if the unit itself has been replaced.

As Andy says the IAT sensor is usually part of the MAF

Unplug the MAF and see if intake air temp reading changes.

Engine doesn't have to be running for this test.

You may have a code after for MAF sensor because it's been unplugged just clear it.

Re: QUBO Intake Air Sensor

There is a reference in the workshop manual that there is a temperature sensor built into the pressure sensor located under all the plastic, and the sensor is highlighted, in the page enclosed. The Ducato does this, again, don't specifically know with our Qubo which sensor/s might throw specific faults. It is very much worth detail inspection of connections around sensors when faults come, the spring element and fiddly parts that can weaken and corrode stay with the loom and are not replaced with a new sensor. Re: QUBO Intake Air Sensor

Thanks again Andy. I'll have a very close inspection through everything. I've had ongoing and intermittent problems with MAF fault codes for a long time. When the garage fitted a new MAF it made no difference so they fiddled about (said they replaced some crimps??) and the fault disappeared. After about three months the fault reappeared. When reset the fault can be clear for months or just a couple of miles. A couple of weeks ago, the IAT fault started to show up in the mix. I've suspected it being intermittent connection or air leak but can't nail it. I'm reluctant to take Qubo to a garage in case they just start replacing parts ad hoc. Last bill was 300 sobs. Cheers Nige

Totally agree Andy, funny when the whole story comes forth.
Don't go back to that garage they obviously did a rubbish job repairing the wires .
Or do go back and ask them to do a proper job , 300 for a repair that lasted a few weeks!
