I get 52 out of my 1.3 multijet diesel. [75hp chipped]

luigi

Hi, Yes thats about what I get as normal..........why I suddenly jumped up is a mystery. Though I have been stuck in slowish moving traffic quite a few times over the last couple of weeks. Apart from that I have changed my brand of fuel....only because of cost, normally I use Shell 1.42.9 litre, but am now using Esso at 1.36.9 litre. A change is as good as a rest.......or so they say. Either way......I'm getting cheaper fuel, and more mpg......like it. Cheers Qube O..:)

After 19000 miles of mostly short town journeys, my 1.3 75 hp MJTD averages 50.6 mpg.

Within a month of buying it I got a tuning box from Italy on eBay but when I plugged it in, the engine warning light came on, it went into limp-home mode and would only rev to 3000 rpm. I've since had it professionally re-mapped ( along with my 2.7 twin turbo diesel S type Jag ;)) and the difference is amazing. I think it's up to the 95hp spec.

I'm a "JET POWER" man usually, supporting my local garage but I've just filled up at Tesco as we got vouchers for 30p off a litre!

I got my ''chip tuning box'' from express chip and have had no issues with it,the difference was instant.
ive done about 15.000 miles since i fitted it,and i'm contemplating moving the selector switch to the next setting for even more power [there are 3 settings] the 1st setting which i am running at the moment gives around 100 bhp,but i,ve sort of used to that now.
The advice given by the company is to take it up one stage at a time.but watch for heavy black smoke. in which case the advice is to back it off again.

Back on topic (1.4 petrol) , ive done 1000 miles now and the vehicle has recorded 33MPG
So, that's what you get out of a Qubo petrol.

It's only 1000miles. Give it another 5k before even looking at the mpg. I've just done 2250 miles in a car with 3600 miles when I started and it was doing far better MPG than an identical one with 1000 miles on the clock I done 300 miles in.

Well, After 6 months of, I have to say very happy Qubo ownership I managed 33MG. in around 2000miles.

I'm 100% sure that the car can do better but my trips are very short in the Qubo. Sadly the time has come to chop my beautiful 10,600 mile Qubo in for a diesel as I just cant stomach the tax bill at £175.00 for the miles I do.

the Qubo was only for the dogs and I liked it a great deal, problem was the missis wouldn't drive it cos it had a gear lever and a clutch. I searched and searched for a multijet wanting to stay loyal to Fiat but alas, I found none and I collect a bipper 1.4 HDI auto on Saturday with only 7000 miles on the clock.

Ill be back

:cry:R.I.P ontor.......Missing you all ready

Now come on, stop that, you have to be strong. I'm going to leave here a believer and say that the Qubo is perhaps the most fun car that I've had to date. This is why I bought another( yes its a different badge) but i'm a Fiat man at heart. Just no deals out there at present.

Interestingly, the Qubo is easily the most expensive and rare of the 3 car versions especially in Automatic!!!

Just take a look on Autotrader at Qubo auto!!!!! about 3 of them but 15 Citroens and a load of Pugs!!

Should have looked on Ebay............fair few on there..........both private sales, and business sales.

Hope you enjoy the new toy.

Cheers Qube O....

I hear you, what I didn't tell you was that I wont buy a vehicle with more than 10K on the clock and with a car of this type I set the max at £7500 Quirky I guess but its always worked for me.
Right now on Autotrader in this bracket there is 1 bipper auto which was my second choice, I Nemo auto but its been wheelchair converted so will be a rotten hell hole on wheels in a few years and zero qubo's. I always deal with trade to dispose of the part ex so can't consider private sales. I did look on ebay, both my first and second choice were on there as well as the above Nemo.

I will stick around here anyway as its still pretty much the same gearbox and stuff I think.

Loads on ebay and I even found two auto box models - one was at Autoworld in Chesterfield from whence my van came (via Turkey of course)

Almost cried when I worked out how to use the trip computer for the first time and saw 187 miles at 27.1 mpg on average at 19mph on its last trip.......most of which was before I got it. Its a 62 plate 1.4 with 10500 miles on it
Reset it and got up to 32mpg on 6.9 miles with lots of roundabouts and junctions.

Driving with the instant mpg on was interesting going down to almost 10mpg at times and then right up in the 80's mpg at 30mph on a slight decline in 4th.

Wondering if I should have got a diesel after all and took a chance with the DPF etc but with about 40 miles a week and 10 minute trips usually its probably not worth it.
Very pleasant to drive though even if they did clean up the floors with silicone spray and make them an ice rink.

40 miles a week with 10min journeys would definitely cause DPF issues, there is no question about it!

Petrol is the correct vehicle for your usage patterns.

What's going to happen in the near future with the Govt making diesel engines unfriendly?
It's all very well them saying the particulates are noxious (which we knew anyway) but what choice do we have when as consumers we're only given two choices and one is not very economical but is sportier than the other and the other uses EU over-legislated engines that are economical and have gizmos fitted that require certain driving habits to make them work 'properly' (allegedly) or they corpse? The oil companies are not helping here. If they put the petrol/diesel profits into alternative fuels (hydrogen cells, batteries, etc.) instead of mining fossil fuels and screwing us for the costs then we'd all perhaps be happier and the air might be cleaner and we'd have nice quiet cars too! I guess the negative image being spread about the diesel will affect the resale price too. We always lose out.

(Trip from Doncaster to Heysham, a weekend of driving around on the Isle of Man and return trip today, average mpg 61.8 - fine by me)

Diesel will die, that's what will happen, and about time.

Too many are narrow minded. Electric, PHEVs and hybrids are tomorrow's cars. They're already starting to take off now (hybrids), despite Toyota having sold them well for over a decade.

Give it another 5-10 years and I'll willing to put money on all mainstream manufacture offering at least 1 hybrid or PHEV.

Thanks Most Easterly that makes me feel better - thats the advice I had before buying but you can't help being a bit jealous of the extra mpg's.......and the low tax.
