Tuning "Home-made" Induction kit

That's what i thought but one guy on this thread mentioned he had another hose, and someone else said to plug that extra hose with something.

This thread is making my head spin lol

Ok so this one pipe then what happens if I use a filter on it instead of connecting to induction kit as soem universal tubing don't have the holes/connections for it.

You said it would fail the mot with a filter on it yeah?

If you dont connect that breather pipe into the induction kit cos some pipin doesnt have a hole like you say and you just put a little filter on it then yes you will FAIL your MOT, unless you want to swap back to original air box for MOT

What is the vac pipe, do I need to touch it lol

And why did the op even bring it up if it's not relevant to fitting an induction kit?

See how I've read the vac pipe, is he's fitting an induction kit and asking what to do with two pipes, the crankcase breather and the vac?

But apaprently the vac isn't touched at all when fitting an induction kit anyway, so why has he got a loose vac pipe?

Mate forget about him you dont need to touch anything lol dont touch any pipes on your punto except that one breather pipe.

Vac pipe = FOOK IT!! no need at all too touch.

And he has a MK1 punto anyway he hasnt got MPI (Multi Point Injection AKA throttle body) like your MK2 different inlet yours is like mine.

Listen to me lol

It depends on the car, some cars have them (earlier ones like my Seicento and Mk1 puntos), later cars like Brins (Mk2 or 2b) won't have it so won't need to worry.

Finally it all makes sense, the op must have a mk1 then, I have a mk2 that would explain why I can't find soemthing I don't have lol

I can sleep well tonight then lol :D

Now one last thing if I make a custom induction kit, what are the downsides to using a filter on the breather pipe? Failed mot, really? Performance loss, really?

Cheers

Cheers, that's why I was confused, I thought he had a mk2, and was wondering where the hell mine loose pipe was lol I need to read things properly

there is nothing in the mot that says crank case must be vented back into air intake. it was just an internet rumor

i duno if its writen anywhere, but you do fail i know loads of garages that fail for it, it is VOSA regulation i think that can NOT be let back into the atmosphere made it by law from a certain date just cant remember wen lol

use to be able to let it back to atmosphere but not anymore.

but believe what you want your own risk

If you can't have a breather filter, then I've heard you can fit a catch tank? :/

other end of catch tank has to go some where or have a filter on it.

there is no part of an mot that says crank case gases have to be recirculated. mot testers who are members here have confirmed it

im not sure if its MOT regulation or VOSA but i know in bradford we dont pass for havin it non recirculating, might just be cos ther bein n0bs here or it might be that im right.

Anyway if you get stopped by VOSA man youll be fooked guarateed its law to recirculate to reduce emissions poluting to atmoshphere.

Guess MOT testers around derby don't care then. My breather has a small filter in it as I have a custom induction kit, and it passed it's MOT 2 weeks ago with nothing being said about that.
