ok now as far as turbo'd cars and ic's go i know probably next to nothing

im kinda familiar with their fucntion as i read a pretty long post on them before (pinnin posted it iirc)

so help explaining a set up ect

ie standard punto GT - standard turbo, recirc DV

mod'd to - bailey (eg only) DV and upgraded IC and induction

would that all be ok and work ok as a setup?

That would be fine. An uprated intercooler, as well as increasing power, is also a safety feature. The more efficient the intercooler is, the lower the charge temps when they enter the engine. This increases power as engines love cool air, and also decreases the risk of pre-detonation and melted pistons in extreme circumstances. It's when you whack up the boost on the standard I/C that you can have trouble, especially in the weather we are currently experiencing.

cool thanks guys. what does charge temps actually mean? (complete novice i am :p just so i dont get it wrong when i mention it)

well thye are my plans for when i get my gt. the IC all the group buys on psc seem to get are not bigger than the 'mouth' in the front bumepr on the sprting/gt bumpers so wont be too big for the standard turbo i dont think

It's the temperature of the air that is being forced into the chambers, after it has been through the intercooler or chargecooler. The cooler, the better. So the air gets sucked in through the air filter, the temperature then is called the ambient temps, or the whatever the temp is outside. So obviously on a nice cool winter's day the ambient temps will be low. But on a hot summer's day they will be up.
The air is then compressed by the turbocharger, and compressing air causes it to heat up. So before it enters the engine, it is passed through the intercooler or chargecooler, to drop that temp down.

ahh right. so the pace fmic's have literally everything you need to fit it (from looking at pics) but could obviously get samcos for it.

spose with things like this you pay for what you get, just like other things

Well yes but to be fair a company called PROALLOY make a far superior FMIC for the coupe, for less cash. I only have the Side mount Pace I/C, it's basically a direct replacement for the standard but it's a lot thicker with alloy ends instead of the oe plastic which can leak boost
But yeah £400 gets you a decent FMIC for the coupe with all necessary fittings and instructions, not sure about other cars though but shoudl be the same ball park.
