ok i heard this noise in my car few months ago only twice and ignored it now its back and is happening every other day. what happens in on way to work in the mron i travel down country roads at about 60 they straight by way and all of a sudden a anoise will start its a dul thump and goes thump, thump thump thump at a continuous beat like twice a second never faster never slower. well dont sem it. this will happen for few secs and then it will fade out. this dont hapen on smooth roads. the noise dont really sem to coincide with bumps in road. just they seem to start it off.

i was wondering could it be a shock ? or any clues most welcome

is it on power?did you dip the clutch to see if it went?

hmm i dint dip clutch no just kept driving at 60 and it goes after a few seconds. next time i will dip clutch and see what happens

i get the knocking noise when it starts or when its stationary, and when i dip the clutch it goes away pretty much (either that or its a little technician banging wanting to get out) dunno what it is,

ok well noise still happens when foot is off aclerator and clutch down. but now i have a diff idea lol i am wonderung if i am imagining the noise from front as noise travels

and i was looking at back of my car and i swear the passenger side rear is sitting at a very slight angle compare to other side. i know on mk1 that this is sign if suspension arm things as sister had hers done but does this indicate same on a mk2 ?????????

Have a look at all your suspension mounts (Struts)

Have a look at you CV Boots and check for signs of excessive grease and wear.

Might possibly be engine mounts.

I have this same problem in my Tipo but the sound only appears on one Flyover outside where I work with a fairly cold engine. doesn't seem to happen anywhere else

yeah its wierdm first time i heard it couple of months back it happend one stretch of road in either direction and no were else so i assumed was road noise some how lol. but now its happening in diff places.

could it be a shock problem ?? still got me origs on donw 65k now and i drive down realy bumpy roads every day
