Please can someone help as this noise is doing my nut in i have a Punto 03 with a sreeching sqweaking creeking noise from passenger side at rear when i go over a slightly bumpy road. Does anyone have a clue what it is & how i may be able to stop it. Thanks.. :bang:

I have it in the same place :( mine has been caused by lowering the car and the lip of the bumper touching the wheel as I go over bumps,

Just sorted it ( i hope ) i bent down on the passenger side towards the back of the car and seen what i thought was the hand break cable, i moved it and it made the noise ( i wasnt sure if it was the noise coz it wasnt as loud ) so i greased it up & went round the block a few times, no noise at all.

Hopefully that was it.

i remember a few years ago i was trying to find a rattle my escort had around the N/S/R wheel. after weeks of searching i found a 10mm nut that was sitting inbetween the inner and outer skins of the rear wing. i only found it by poking a magnet rod down into the bodywork. that nut had rattled me silly for 20k, soooo annoying

yep thats the one i was thinking off hav seen several posts with that problem

Ever since I bought my 52 plate Punto in jan 07 I have had a terrible squeak coming from the back of the car on the passenger side.

It used to be intermittent, getting better in the rain, but recently it has become much worse.. CONSTANT infact .. to the point where it was putting me in a bad mood everytime I drove it.. I thought I was going to go crazy.

All things went through my mind .. suspension.. dry bush maybe ?

So yesturday after returning from work I climbed under the car and had a poke about. I moved the handbrake cable and to my surprise I heard the same noise but VERY VERY quietly .. so quiet I thought "It can't be that"... off I went to the shed and got some silicone based lubricant and covered the two brackets by the wheel holding the cable.

With fingers crossed I went for a 10 mile drive and not one squeak! Just bought some copper grease and some cable ties to make sure it doesn't come back !

Woooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!! Im sane again !! (y)
