Had a search through earlier and not really managed to dig anything up so hoping someone can help.

Normally I'd be lazy and get someone else to do the work but due to selling it within a few months I'd rather avoid spending funds where I could save them.

Was looking for a work through / step by step guide for doing a pad change on my Mk2. Any assistance will be appreciated or the appropriate section of the haynes manual scanned in would be a bonus :D

tut tut copywrite :p

basic pad change is...

  • chock car.
  • loosen wheel.
  • jack up and support car.
  • remove wheel.
  • remove pad retaining clip. (use some pliers)
  • unbolt caliper slides using allen (hex) key.
  • move caliper, this should free the outboard pad.
  • The inboard pad needs to be pulled out as there is a spring holding it into the caliper piston.
  • Now you can clip the new inboard pad into the piston.
  • Grease the sliders and as you (with 4 hands :p ) hold the caliper and outboard pad in place screw the sliders back in place.
  • Once the sliders are tightened there is just the clip to replace.
  • spin the disc to check it all moves freely.
  • replace the wheel and tighten.
  • spin the wheel to check nothing catches.
  • lower the car and tighten the wheel bolts again.
Repeat for the other side.

Excellent cheers.

Curious if I remember but maybe incorrectly with the Sei caliper you had to push the piston back before fitting the new pad, this not required with the Punto?
