there is def more up over 3k, i noticed that as well. what really got on my tits though was that the accelerator pedal doesn't seem to be connected to anything. fly by wire and there is a delay in it doing anything. slight movements were ignored, and then revs changed in massive jumps. is that how modern fiats work

i have the same problem with the accelerator pedal, i kept thinking it is just me or because i where big shoes

i was trying to keep it 1500rpm yesterday and the needle would either not move or shoot upto 2000+

i really have to put my foot down or run the risk of stalling when i start off (n)

i can happily set the cinq's revs to whatever i like and keep it there all day

How come my MPG thing doesn't display '----' when I'm stationary  :(

errm maybe i was wrong and it dont display ------ , thinking off it trip mpg is only affected when engine is switched off and not if you stopped

But The Trooper said his displays '----' when stationary too.

When my engines off the Trip Computer isn't on then, only the clock.

See what you've started now Gaz

Mk2 Punto's have a simple trip computer that only gives 'overall' readouts (mpg since reset, miles to go until empty, miles gone since reset, time since last reset blah blah blah)

Mk2.5 Punto's have a more comprehensive trip computer (regardless of the spec) that also gives 'instantanious' read-outs (i.e. what you are getting right at that moment). So when you are sat in traffic you get 0mpg, hence the ----- read-out. Likewise, lifting off the throttle down-hill in a 1.2 Active courtesy car gave me 133mpg... Totally useless but a nice little toy all the same...

As to the original question, I would choose the Dynamic for it's standard ABS (on Mk2; it was removed on the 8v for 2.5) and all the stuff on the Active Sport is just weighty and drag-increasing. However, I'm not a fan of 'sheep in wolves clothing' cars...

Whichever, avoid the poverty Active; central locking an leccy windows it may have, but the guff upholstery and rubbish plastic headrests are a constant reminder that you are tight...

This pisses me off too. If i want to keep it at a nice idle, it fluctuates and makes it seem like im slightly revving constantly (n)

Something that might be of help!
When my dad had kis mk2 punto 1.2 16v, it was crap at accelerating and would sometimes idel higher and once it bounced itself off the limiter, basically it got steadily worse the longer it was left, we did all sorts of checks etc on teh engine but we couldnt find the problem, then we realised it culd be the peddle itself. If i remember correctly, the pedal is a complete electronic unit. When we diconnected and removed it, soem of the internals wrernt functining correctly so a call to gounty motors (local fiat dealership)
revealed this was a commpn problem with the mk2's and they sent us one out the same day so later in the afternoon we fitted it and it was perfect

Hope this may help you...

P.S. It was like sometimes it was just running on 8valves it was that bad :p

Or an 18 year old that can't afford a top of the range model

Also, on the mk2 the trip computer for the miles left until empty readout goes to ------- when it goes below 50 miles. I know this becuase I spend a lot of time looking at ------- :p

And Rich, try Quinn Direct, quoted me £1300 on my Punto. Granted, it's only an Active, but a bit of extra trim won't put the price up much, if at all (y)

I used 4 insurance, as im 17 just passed my theory and been learning in my car so needed to insure it, although mines a 1.2 75 8valve, it cost me around 1400 i believe, so you could give them a go even thow i hav a diff car it cud b cheaper? Also you mite want to try tesco - they are normally cheapish
