Hi All,

I need some advice and guidance. I think my reverse light has gone, the warning light is always on and having checked the fuses; they're all fine. So I plan to check the light bulbs. I drive a W 2000 Reg, Punto ELX, 3 Door. I have followed the manual, and it all seemed so simple until you actually go about the job. It looks like I will have to remove the subwoofer, and a lot of other things before I can even reach the light bulbs. The diagrams in the manual is very misleading, as it seem so simple :mad:

Will I have to remove a lot more things before I can reach the lights as there seem to be very little room to move about??? I wanted to check before I go ahead!

Thanks in advance

Colin

You need to get your tool to undo the bolts that hold the lense in which i think should be in your tool kit inside your spare wheel. There is a round cap on the C pillar which you need to pop off to reveal one of the boplts that hold the light on and the other bolt is a bit lower down inside the boot, once they are undone it should just pull off (y)

:O remove the sub woofer

hmm are you sure ?

to get rear light off you have to undo 2 bolts one is above the parcel shelf behind a lital round cover one is below the parcel shelf. there is a tool that is with the spare that is the right size or you can just use a socket set. probably easier. you undo them 2 bolts then the rear light cluster just pulls off the car. you can then disconnect the plug. and remove it completly. o acces the bulbd just undo the screws that you will thn see on the back and you will have acces to all teh bulbs

Indeed he is ;)

To replace any of the left hand side bulbs on Punto's with a sub-woofer, the unit has to come out. It is an easy job though, even a total bufoon like me managed it :p There are three bolts on the sub where it fixes into the bodywork, and then the electrical connector. Simply undoo the bolts, partially remove the sub and then undo the electrical connector. Then follow the manual procedure to do the bulbs.

p.s. you don't seem so sure the reversing bulb has gone. There are three ways to check rear bulbs;

1) Get a mate to help
2) Reverse up to a plate-glass window (or any other reflective surface) and check
3) Turn the ignition on (but don't start the car) select reverse and have a quick look around the back

Thanks guys. That was of great help. The bolts were a pain to remove and the tools didn't help entirely. I have now managed to remove the lights now, and having taken a careful look, the reverse light seems intake. However, when I reverse, it is not lighting up and I get the orange warning light on my dashboard. I have also checked the fuse and it looks fine too.

Thanks:confused:

Thanks
