Hello,

My Punto 1.2 8V is cutting out all of the sudden.
Morning I started and it didn't start.
I repeat this two times, same thing.
Third time it starts, but kept running only about 10 seconds, then cuts out.
I checked with multiecuscsan and there was no any codes.
When it runs all parameters looked ok.
When it is running, it runs normal and cuts out like when you turn the key off.
One time when it cuts out I wait about one hour and I pushed the fuel rail schrader valve and the was a little squirt of fuel. I allways thought that if there is 3 bar of pressure, it squirts a lot of fuel. Then I cycle key one time and again tested schrader valve. Same amount of fuel than previous. Could it be fuel pump issue or Ignition switch?

I just made this video with the ignition off about an hour before.

Quite a bit of fuel comes out, more than I was expecting. A reasonable amount missed the tissues.

Is that a dribble or a gush? :D

Juddebar, it is a little gush but lot less than yours.
Kido, Plugs ha ve been changed 4 years ago and mileage on them is
about 20000km. Theyt are Bosch SuperPlus FR8DC+

With the engine running the pump is always running and gets cooled by the petrol. When the weather is hot and you are low on petrol the pump burns out eventually.

I tried to start this morning the car and when I cranked the engine, I monitored
crank sensor with multiecuscan (ponic wheel something), it stays fault all the cranking. I cycle key 6-7 times and it didn't even attempt to start the engine.
I thought that when cranking it goes ok, or am I wrong?

I recorded engine rpm when I started and it shows zero rpm.
Then I measured crank sensor two pins and it gave infinite resistance.
So it seems that my crank sensor is faulty and prevents car starting.
I have crank sensor from my mk1 Punto, it seems same but it has about 630 ohms of resistance, mk2 crank sensor has 1200 ohms.
Is this ok?
Can I change sensor without taking off both timing belt covers?

If the tacho inside the car is showing no revs then it is likely your sensor or the wiring has failed.

Have you measured the resistance of your sensor??

My mk2b 16V sensor has a plug at the sensor so there would be no need to remove any covers.

The sensors are not so expensive and you need it to be totally reliable.

It was infinite resistance.
MK2 8V crank sensor and wire is together, no connector between them.

Measure these points on your ECU. If they are different vaues, eg. 400 vs 800 ohms, then one of the ECU's ignition coil outputs failed. (If the values are the same, eg. 400 ohms, doesn't mean that the ECU is in good working condition.)
