where is the best place to stick a air temperature sensor for gerenal outside temperature?

I was going to run it down the side of the car into the boot near the bumper
But the exhaust heat would affect it

But same for engine the cold airflow and exhaust heat will affect the reading

So where is next best place?

it was a 3.99 one from lidl when i brought my car seat covers

I like the idea of knowing how hot and cold it inside and outside (esp when its below freezing)

Its got a 3m cable, but the sensor would be a pig to get through a bulkhead seal hence why i said out via the boot - as it got a huge one :)

Whats the pack called? Will pop down Lidl tomorrow :p

Out of the wind/airflow anywhere towards the front of the car. The standard place is underside of drivers mirror, ford put them behind the front bumper as do most manufactures

I've just been given something similar... -- because I was complaining that the Punto doesn't have the temperature display that the Panda does (and my Isuzu had...). :(

I don't know where the sensor is on the Panda; but, on the Isuzu -- as you say -- it was tucked up behind the front bumper: which is where I think I will try and put mine.... Anyone know a quick and easy way through the Punto's bulkhead...? (The wire is very thin....)

+3 deg. C air temperature is where most flash warnings at you and beware of bridges/overpasses they can be much cooler than the road leading on and off.

I think best way is down and out via the internal gromits - but as said the cable is very Thin and the sensor is fat!

Did you ever sort this...? (I know you've been busy: from the number of helpful guides appearing in the Punto section... -- for which, many thanks...!) Am hoping to fit mine in the next few days....

Ah yes - the method of cabling went completly different

it ended up going out via the door seal on the passenger side and down into the engine bay that way

I had it high in engine bay - off a spare mount on the scuttle pannel - that quickly warms up giving a duff reading

got it lower down - behind and lower then the battery - still picks up engine heat

So i think near bumper is only way
