Hello Guys,
A symbol on my Mk2b dash has lit up and apparently (from the handbook) it is the engine management light - Is there any way I can find out either DIY or after market ECU diagnosis what the fault is ??

dont go to a dealership, a local garage if u know them should only charge £5 to fit a diagnostic machine to it.
It will then give u a code which tells you whats wrong with the car. I was worrying about it for ages when mine come on. turnt out the lamba sensor needed changing. cost £50 and did it myself. It can be any number of things though. is it driving ok?

For £20 you can get a hand held scanner which till tell you the fault and allow you to clear it.

agree with richie, although am i right in thinking that the cheap ones do not read the fiat specific P - codes? reason i say this is becuase i have a £20 bit of kit myself, and my friend has slightly better one, and the code for my lamba sensor was p1135 when hooked up to a decent kit at the garage. but the cheapos just read random error

Mine brings the code up but just says 'manufacturer specific code', so you google the code and get the answer. 'Proper' ones have all the codes and references in with the kit.
