I just had to get the starter motor replaced after my car completely died last night. I was charged £110 total for a reconditioned motor, labour, VAT, work guaranteed for a year. Does this sound about right?
I'm curious where exactly the starter motor's located, I haven't had much luck with the descriptions I get via Google. I'm wary of the garage just happening to have the right part at the right time and was trying to see if i could spot anything that looked newer after I got the car back, and unless the starter motor's that bit low down at the back of the main engine block with the thick red wires which I presume lead to the battery, then I couldn't see anything that looked cleaner than the rest of the engine.
