just need quick pointers to do the front seats please. want to keep the leather on the sides/back but the actual seat material is ripped and i just want to replace it, possibly with leather if i can get hold of some cheaply.
Usually you need an industrial sewing machine to get good results, some peeps just seem to have a knack for upholstery, I only tackle bits that dont get looked at closely. I did fit new leather covers and diaprhagms to one car, but I bought them in ready made. BTW, Tipo was great car, deserved much better sales here in UK.
The machine in question is a Singer from 1964 with all metal insides so i guess that is pretty industrial... well it did the job... In a kind of fasion that is..
the easy way to do it is remove your old covers, take them apart using a stitch pick, use the pieces of cloth/leather as templayes to cut your own, then pin them together, then stitch them together (stitch inside out obviously) then fit the new covers to the seats. easy peasy if you cheat and use your originals as templates.
