Well, the title of this thread is not strictly true but this is what often happens.

I park in the drive of my house and lock the Panda with the key fob. The car is a 2008 Cross with the newer black key fob. When I next go to the car, often the following day, the doors are unlocked.

Now, I know what is happening, as I have observed the process. I have to admit I have put on weight recently and my trousers may be a little tight. If I bend over, other items in my pocket seem to press against the buttons on the key fob and unlock the car. Now, although this is partly a design fault in me, obesity and the other contents of my pockets, too many, I have also noticed that the unlock button on this style of key fob is more prominent than the others and so is more likely to be activated in these circumstances.

My wife has a Honda Jazz which, if it is unlocked but the doors are not opened for a certain period, relocks itself. This could be the answer to my problem if adopted by Fiat.

Otherwise, I will need to lose weight, buy bigger trousers, put less in my pockets or get a manbag in which to put my keys.

Does anyone else have this problem?

The feature that re-locks a car if unlocked for over a minute without the doors being opened, is a requirement for Thatham Cat-1 alarms/immobilisers, if I recall correctly. This suggests that the Panda security is only Cat-2 compliant.

Having just had to pay an extortionate amount for a new locking fob, I can see that the new (black) one does indeed have a raised Unlock button, where as they were somewhat more protected on the old one.

I had a similar occurrence with my Stilo a couple of times, and that was through the concrete floor of my old office! Thankfully the car was underground as the Stilo also dropped its front windows, so I must have been pressing the button unintentionally for quite a while.

I always put car keys on my desk now... ;)

Whoops. Yes the auto re-lock doesn't put the windows back up unfortunatly on the Stilo (n)

i remember the rents had a leon TDI FR when you held the lock button down it would put all the windows up fold in the wing mirrors and put the front lights on for 1 min all at once. it was great

also locked the car too which was handy

panda doesnt do this (on my active atleast) but no matter i still have the "follow me home?" lights thing which is cool
