After seeking owners opinions on this forum and deliberating about the cross for a few weeks I decided to take the punge and order one as soon as I was last weeks announcement regarding the imminent end of life for the cross, 4x4 and 100hp under the current model.

Bieng on holiday, I phoned my local dealer who assured me they had build slots for 3 unsold crosses over the next few weeks. Went to pay the deposit today only to find out the slots have now been cancelled and he can't get a new one.

Gutted ! Was looking to order white one with sunroof and side plus window airbags. I now feel like christmas has been cancelled. :-(

Phone Fiat UK (00800 3428 0000) and have words. All those models are still on their website and configurator. If they can't make them then they shouldn't be on there.

Ask them to source you one. If they can't, suggest to them that they update the website to reflect what customers can actually buy ;)

Good luck anyway.

Arnold Clark Glasgow still have their White delivery mileage one , been on autotrader for a month and now £11k, Blackburn motors have the same. Not sure abou the airbag extras but could be your only option now. You could try perrys too as they seem to have big stock of pandas in general

Might be to do with the Euro5 regs in which case there's nothing Fiat can do at all.

Sorry to rub salt in, but I dont normally like the cross, but it looks smart in white!! :)

Totally agree with you regarding the Euro 5 regs, but i just think they shouldve removed the models from their website before stopping production, so that any dribs and drabs of orders/enquiries that may have arisen following removal from the website could still be processed.

BTW you can't get side window airbags with the sunroof option, I wanted them but no can do apparently..(n)

I have both side window airbags and sunroof in my Panda. It's a normal Dynamic Multijet. I guess they keep changing things...

Your dealer clearly has no idea what they are talking about!

I have just amended a variable build slot for a Panda Active ECO to a Panda Cross and the system has accepted it.

Build Week 35 (week-commencing Monday 23 August) so would be with me mid September.

You can have the Side Airbags, but not the Window ones.

Eventually the dealer realised although it wasn't possible to create an new order for a cross it was possible to change an existing panda factory slot to a cross (as I think Scrogg pointed out).

Ordered the cross in plain white with both side and window airbags and sliding rear seats. Would really have liked the sunroof also but didn't wan't to loose the curtain airbags.

delivery date apporx 20th sept, can't wait !

(It is somewhat annoying that the fiat configurator doesn't prohibit window bags/sunroof combination - i even phoned fiat who of course said it was possible to have both the sunroof and window air bags if the configurator allowed it, but my dealer is also sure from a previous cross order that they are unwilling to fit both once the order is relayed to the factory as pointed out in previous post)

Excellent news (y)

Shame the dealer didn't know all the info to begin with but at least the car has been ordered now.

As for the curtain airbags, it would make sence that they can't be ordered with a sunroof as their location is right next to where the sunroof would be. I'd say it wouldn't hurt trying to order the roof and see what you get, but the danger is you may end up with neither, and being as the orders are closing for the Cross, that might be a gamble too far.

Well here is my input.

I ordered a new Panda cross about 4 weeks ago. Im getting it first week in Sept on the new 60 plate. cost £11k.

i did call newcars4you recently as they are advertising Cross's for 10,640.
They said they would check with their Fiat dealer and get back to me. He called back and said they have cars available for that price.
The one in Glasgow at Arnold Clark was sold about 4 weeks ago. I had a look at it on the weekend and called Monday to buy it but they said it was sold. I dont know why they keep it on the internet for sale, maybe as a hook.

..

how much is your first service?

Do you think its worth getting the 1st and 2nd years service pack for £249 upfront? Is the cross different to the standard car with respect to service?

I think it's definetly worth taking the 3 years insurance that makes up the invoice value against the value of the car at the time of loss.

ie if the car is written off or stolen at year 2 and the market value is say £8000. Then the other insurance kicks in and you get the additional £3000. Assuming you paid £11,000 new.

The dealer said that it doesn't need a '1st' service as in 1000 miles-ish. But if I wanted an oil/filter change, they'd just charge materials at cost.

Just doing it for peace of mind to be honest, for what it costs...:)

Not sure about the other stuff, just going with what comes with the car for now..

It really is money wasted. Modern engines just don't need it.

If you want to do the engine good then do earlier oil and filter changes, but a change at 1k miles is like throwing socks away after wearing them once.
