Due to take delivery of three Panda Crosses soon. What's the deal with regard to Roadside Assistance? Tried to look on Fiat's website but the link to that very page is broken! Is it included in the first year?

Why did nobody tell me this (including the dealer) ? Just had the fist year service and forked out for breakdown cover.

I didn't know about I until my service last week. They gave me the recovery paperwork when I collected the car.

Tell your breakdown cover provider to refund you if you are in a cool off period.

A word to the wise - this scheme only applies to "participating Fiat dealers", so if your dealer is a shower of the proverbial, and hasn't signed up to the scheme, you don't get your free breakdown cover. Grrrr.

What's the betting that the 'participating Fiat dealers' are all at the upper end of the price band?

Whilst you're waiting in the reception area to pick up your car (it could be a little while), try rearranging these words to form a sentence:

Thing. A. Such. Lunch. No. There's. Free. As.

Just my luck to have bought from a non-participating dealer who appears to be at the upper end of the price bracket (£124 for an oil change?!!)

Think the OP is just asking about breakdown cover that comes with the car when it's delivered from new, rather than the relatively new (and seemingly, rare) novelty of a years breakdown cover that comes included when you get your car serviced at a Fiat dealer*

Basically with the first years roadside assistance, on the Fiat's and Alfa's myself & family have bought, we've not needed to do anything or fill anything in. It's just included for 1 year from the date of first registration (3 years on Alfa) and if you need to use it you call CIAO FIAT, the pan-European Fiat Customer Service number, on 00800 3428 0000 (3428 spells FIAT on a phone keypad, to make it easier to remember) & press Option 1 'for immediate roadside assistance'.

It used to transfer you straight through to the AA/RAC but in the last couple of years they've changed to a company that calls out your nearest breakdown provider, a bit like how Green Flag worked/works. They were still pretty decent when my Sister needed them for her Alfa, and I think their should be a booklet (or a section in the warranty & servicing booklet) explaining what's covered, ie home-start, recovery etc.

*participating dealers only, terms, conditions & exclusions apply ;)

You'd think so, but my preferred agent is the cheapest around these parts by a long shot.
