Just clocked 650 miles in my 1.2 easy and the MPG is saying im getting 40.6. Hoped to get alot more than that as my punto done 40.6 also.

All my driving is around town so a fair bit of stop / starting but was told i should be getting 45/46 mpg.

Anyone else like to let me know what their panda is getting?

It's a difficult one really as a lot of stop/start driving around town will knacker your fuel consumption no matter what sort of tactics you employ.

I'd say around 40mpg is probably a little short of what you would expect for a 1.2 engine though, maybe it's just because the engine is new.

It'll definitely benefit from a good blast on the motorway every now and then. When we had our old 500, it did a hell of a lot of urban driving for the first couple of months and it started to feel really quite sluggish. But once we had a few trips in excess of 100 miles on the motorway, it then felt a lot better for it. Don't be afraid to rev it (when the engine's warm of course, haha!(y):D)

By the way, our last 1500 miles achieved 54.8mpg according to the trip (so probably nearer to 50-51mpg in reality).

Hi, may I suggest that you totally ignore the data from the computer until you get a couple of thousand miles on the clock and it has loosened up and you have properly got used to it. I was constantly checking our TA and was completely spoiling the "New car experience" so I forgot about it and enjoyed the car for what it is (a right hoot). Now with over 2,000 miles up it gets better all the time and returns about 45 mpg over very mixed conditions although I can get it into the 30's if having a laugh or into the 50's if I pretend that I am a "Tree Hugger". Would imagine the 1.2 would be very similar but without the ability to get down to the low 30's.

Geoff.

I definitely also recommend Fuelly. It's still settling down after just 500 miles and two fuel ups, but I'm satisfied with the accuracy of the MPG you can see in my signature below. The trip computer seems to be under estimating by about 1 or 2 MPG. Perhaps things will change as the car gets some more miles under her. Most of my driving is cross country, back roads, so rarely above 60 and with frequent down shifting and reduction in speed for villages, etc.

So 40.6 is fairly low then as i thought. Its probably the missus lead foot! :)

Will give fuelly a go and see what results i get.

Cheers All.

Don't forget as well that a good way of improving fuel consumption is trying hard to avoid braking unless it's absolutely necessary. I've been trying really hard on this front and it has made a big difference too.

The problem you find with the 1.2 is that once it loses its momentum it takes a lot of effort to wind itself back up!

The 40.6 figure is what we are getting out of the Panda Twin-Air we are preparing for the trans-Africa crossing in February, its 2,000 miles on the clock now, and that figure is achieved on mostly motorway running, (Tonbridge to Abingdon, A20, M25, M4, A34), after two oil changes.
