Here's a sneaky preview of an idea that's been floating around since I last had to work in the God forsaken Hell hole that is Peterborough (Whiplash Claim Capital of Cambridgeshire).

Basically a toughened up Panda 4x4 riot van with a roof rack that doubles up as a tent base, gun turret and windscreen cage.

:D

Depending what kind of state the 4x4 I'm off to look at (and most likely buy) next week it could happen.

Why a gun turret?

We get a lot of lampers and hare coursers round here. Under the control of dangerous dogs act (or whatever it's called) any dog that is running loose of farm land that poses a significant threat to livestock or the public can legally be shot. Basically any dog on any field that's more than six feet away from the owner. The Panda 4x4 is the ideal vehicle for such an occasion as they are small enough to fit through gaps Range Rovers and the current weapon of choice Mitsubishi Warriors can't, large enough to be an obstacle, quiet and pretty unstoppable. ;)

I've got the Stainless Steel for a diff' and sump guard. Does anyone have a technical diagram of the rear axle for me so I can start thinking about the Watts set up.

There is some room for watt link behind the rear axle{ on the picture there is pressure corrector for rear brake line, not present on a panda 4x4} but is it really a necessity? With good tyres a bit wider rims and new bushes in the rear susp, panda 4x4 is agile on the corners{ to about 60 mph, but who drives faster on the corners with 4x4?:)}. More noticeable difference will bring simple changing the front chamber from positiv to neutral or a bit negative, that gives the new fell of driving in the corners:)

Derby's not far. Depending on the route there are some fun roads between.

If the car's in good order (just passed an M.O.T so I'm not expecting a rot box) she'll be left alone and I can finish Guff II.

Good news; bad news.

Bad first; the car won't be for sale for a couple of weeks. So the Alfa money can be a deposit and the payday fairies can take care of the rest.

Good news, the car will be M.O.T'd and is taxed until February. Also it's his daily drive (around a farm) so the panels that are straight have rust. :D

1989 F-reg £229 fully comp' :slayer:

No bull bars and the wheels are a little rusty but still hold air. ;)

Sounds perfect for project Peterborough as the car is a basic white one I won't wake up next to a horses head for messing up a Sisley.

I'd better start a shopping list.

I've just had a look at my Fantasia and from wheel centre to wheel centre is almost exactly eighty eight inches.

Drop my Guff II shell onto a rolling Land Rover chassis?

Nothing would need to be cut. Anchor points on the chassis with plates made up and welded to the Panda floor. I could even retain the Land Rover donor reg as it's technically a reshell. Just like the Mini shells on Suzuki chassis mentioned on the forum before. I actually have something better planned for Guff II so don't worry (yet).

Does anyone do a decent off road tyre that will fit Punto wheels?

I'm guessing 185-70-14's would do it with a nice chunky pattern. I have three sets so I may as well use them. ;)
