Tuning replacement engine for the 750cc

cheers guys, can you point me to the correct engine i need as a direct replacement.

regarding wots wrong with the 769.......its not been run for over 4years and looking at it seems fine, put it in gear and rolled back n forth and moved ok..

this is in relation to the onyx firefly i pick up on thursday( its the prototype, first built by David Golightley) so might end up changing the engine for a more newer one.

it might run ok then it might not??? but getting the info ready if i need to get one whilst doing a total strip, can keep an eye out for ready.

Where is the best place to post pictures as i am doing a running picture book of the resto.....so first picks could be up on thursday evening?

many thanks

kevin

Cheers Dave.

just to as, i been looking on fleabay at 1.2 engines, now well confused as to which i would need as a replacement.

if some really nice person would select the correct engine from fleabay and post the id number so i could look at it that would be fandabydozie...

cheers all......kevin

I don't know why folks think that an engine will run well on carbs that are tuned for another engine. Perhaps people are now so used to unsuitable injection systems sort-of compensating in a similar scenario. A carb can run perfect on any of the mentioned engines if you got the correct jets, but otherwise it will be a bit pants. You could nick a carb and/or inlet from an 1108 Uno and use on an 1108 Panda with good results.

cool i will keep an eye out for one....but what is SPI...

above all else i will try and get it running with the gear it has and see, dont suppose anyone know what carb it should be on the 750....read some where its a 32 TLF....

will post some picks and you can all give me advice good or bad but its all good to me.

cheers kevin

SPI is single point injection. As said don't bother keeping the carb, just use the injection system that the engine used originally, if you wanted abit more power you could go for a 1242 16v, which would still fit on your gearbox and engine mounts as any FIRE will.

I bet the 750 will fire up no problem anyway and yes its Weber 32TLF

yes i noticed no servo...barney rubble brakes lol
i all ready made a note of this brake upgrade if engine swap.

as said before, gotta do the chassis first with new floor pan then spray it and fit out to a rolling chassis first then decide if engine swap and do required mods before accessories fitted.

should be fun......looking foreword to it but i can become in patient some times and want to get stuff done.....

chilllllllll man( thats my note to self)
